It's not about showing empathy or compassion for people who are disadvantaged though. Using flowery language doesn't change a person's conditions, no matter how well intentioned they may be but actual actions do.

Also, people express themselves differently and when you don't use "woke lingo" even if you mean the exact same thing by what you are saying people will still try to argue semantics instead of focusing on your actual message and that's a distraction from the actual issue.

Great pic. I just wish that skate park was positioned better. The way it is the skaters are often on the path to get a running start before they even get into the skate park itself.

Thank you. Those are people that have been prioritized for many decades and it's time to level the playing field and stop playing those stupid games

Who uses the service the most and what needs to be done to improve it? Then actually fix the issues. When you do that EVERYONE benefits.

  1. Black people feel as though their voices are being heard and acted on. Which in turn helps to alleviate a whole of apathy.

  2. Actually acting on those concerns ultimately benefits everyone that uses public transportation regardless of race. This in turn helps more people to use the service which gets more people off the road and makes it so that whoever still needs to drive has a better experience getting where they need to go.

Exactly. A black person complaining about something should be taken just as serious as something said why someone who is white.

When I ride the bus it's always mostly black and Hispanic people on there. Rarely are their white people on there.

So even if it's unintentional it's still perpetuating the idea that white people are still superior and that it's to the point where it's considered normal by most people only goes to show how deeply entrenched that idea still is no matter how subtle it may be or how good intentioned people may be.

They have been on Reddit for about ten years. This is the first time they have ever posted in the Baltimore subreddit.

  1. How do you not know how to find posts about crab cakes in Baltimore after all that time being on reddit in general.

  2. There is no way you would have a hard time finding a discussion on crab cakes in Baltimore.

The second floor was closed and that arcade part of the market was completely removed.

I know the Pandemic has messed up how we look at time in certain ways but it hasn't been that long since that area was open.

It was a large open area that was indoors so it could be used even in bad weather. Also, it was away from the foot traffic of the market itself which made for a nice place to eat a meal.

Stairs being communal space isn't a fiid replacement and I wonder if you've ever been upstairs at all

There seems to be people that aren't as focused on the aesthetics of a building as long as they can get what they need from there for a decent price.

Then you have those whose expectations are more particular In that area. They don't care that the place serves a very important purpose for the existing community. All they care about is themselves.

Why wasn't Lexington Market maintained properly all these years. If managed by the city in a good way, then it could have been preserved the way it's been for many decades.

With regards Cross st market folks got the new place but it still has several vacancies. Despite the greatly expanded hours people aren't giving it the kind of support it should have.

Does it look nicer? Yes it does. But is it more inviting? That's where I think we are going to differ with regards to our opinions.

What I would love to know is how much was that market making in about 2017 compared to what it's been earning lately.

Same thing with Broadway Market.

Exactly. I realize I have to keep in mind that the overwhelming majority of folks in this subreddit could care less about the old Lexington Market because they don't have a history with it. They don't want turkey wings, fried chicken, cheap breakfast choices etc. they want stuff that's way more expensive and trendy.
