Unless you are connected. If you are connected, your cousin could send "some friends of ours" over to speak with the landlady to explain why she was looking at this thing through the wrong lens.

That's a bit harsh IMO. Other redditors already have said the same thing, so I think you are painting with too broad a brush.

Heard this on the news first. Really strange story. I wasn't aware that this is the case, but apparently a lot of robbers have been targeting gun stores in Maryland lately. So, one can see why the owners/managers/employees of gun stores would be on high alert while inside their gun stores. However, it is obviously a crazy overreaction to see a suspicious car pull into the parking lot and run toward it with guns blazing.
It's a lucky thing for this guy that he is a terrible shot. I would imagine the penalties in Maryland for murdering a police officer without any provocation would be pretty severe.

Curious what you have in mind when you refer to "any other prosperous liberal democracy." Maybe Sweden?

Exactly. As long as the perpetrators are not motorboating as well, and everyone is consenting, it should be legal.

There is someone at the end of my street with two dogs that they keep outside all day, and those dogs are barking all the time. I can't hear it from my place, but I would be furious if I lived next door. I don't know how the next-door neighbors cope.
I have seen machines advertised for this problem. They emit some high-frequency sound that is annoying to the dog, but which humans can't hear. I think the idea would be to turn it on when they are barking, and off when they are not, so that they associate barking with hearing the unpleasant noise. I haven't used one of these but I would look into it further if there was a dog barking near me all the time.
