Oof these look fantastic.
They go on my "as soon as I win the lottery " list.
Great job!

Nice I also got the same board and switches, although I got it in black.
Lube the switches if you can.

FYI the mechanical keyboard subs are pretty sceptical of this so I would wait until there is a final product review from a reputable reviewer before getting one. Especially don't preorder.

Remember you can change the keycaps if someone complains that they aren't 'professional' enough.

International orders are problematic so it is best to get in our country from local stores. Only a few models are available, mainly k8s.
Keychron only came to my country a year or two ago.

South Africa. Apparently they are all 'end of life' here. You can get a k8 but I really wanted an aluminum k6 or k12 :(

Really cool looking, I wanted to get a k6 or k12 but they don't sell them in my country :(

Not sure - my rk71 was the cheapest blue led only non-hotswap version. It definitely didn't come with any foam.
It is possible that the more expensive version may come with foam. If not, I just use an old yoga mat that I cut to size.

No worries, each to their own.
My experience of tactile is redragon browns which are pretty budget and I find them unsatisfying to use, my Outemu blues are much nicer because they are crisp and give you a loud click. I much prefer the reds in my rk71. I have just ordered a board with gateron yellow pros and one with akko pinks.
It's pretty simple, you open up the case and put foam in there to reduce the echo (you can just use packing foam), then you apply a few layers (I did 3) of painters tape to the back of the PCB and then screw it all back together.
The idea is that it reduces echoes and helps the acoustics, especially for empty plastic cases.
It is an easy and cheap mod to do, I did it on all my boards. You can easily just take the foam and tape out if you don't like it.
Catch_022 t1_iycl0nu wrote
Good start, foam+tape mod it. Rk does good budget boards.
Most people go blue first time because they are a big difference when compared with membrane.
I personally prefer linear (my rk71 is red).

I have the rk71 and honestly I am suspicious that it may already be pre-lubed, just feels so smooth.
I also really like the keycaps.

I remember watching an interview with a South African gangster who said that when he broke into a house and the people there didn’t get what he wanted, he would put the baby in a microwave as an ‘example’.
I hope he was joking.

Sounds good, I would probably leave them as well.
That little line at each of the corners of the case at the top is the only other thing that is worrying me. Is it sharp/noticeable?

Ah, yes they are. I have only tried blue, brown and red. I found that I prefer the blue for typing (clicky) and the red for normal work / gaming (red are linear, similar to yellow).
My browns aren't as satisfying as my blue switches, and aren't as smooth as my reds.
YMMV.

The constant use of the US flag must be a specific American thing, not sure I understand it (is this in a government office desk?) but in this context it really adds a pop of colour.
