Thank you. I literally walk toe-heel in my apartment to avoid disturbing neighbors. We try hard. The larger issue is management is terrible.

Yep, that is what we are looking for. That is what we wanted initially, but there was just nothing available when we moved here in October. This apartment was our last option and we didn't even get to see it before we signed. That was a mistake. Thank you for commiserating.

We are looking for a house in Milford. There are very few rentals in Milford that we can get short-term, so we are looking in New Haven. We don’t have tons of options right now.
Either way, I’m from Dallas. I am very familiar with city life. This is just the worst apartment I’ve ever lived in, and the most expensive by far.

Well I’m in my forties and have lived in a number of apartments over 2+ decades. I’ve never dealt with anything this bad.

I don’t think you understand. We are being woken up even with earplugs and white noise, and we can’t relax in our own home. The toddler has no rules. She runs and throws things for hours on end, starting at 5:30am sometimes and ending after midnight sometimes. It is hours of bangs, crashes, screams, stomps. This is not normal noise and it is not short-lived. It is nonstop for HOURS - including quiet hours.

There are a number of parking options (just do a google search) but they are all pricey. We usually park a bit further down off Atlantic St in a garage there. I think it’s Metro Green. Saves a little bit of money but is still expensive.

We’re from Texas so we like to think we know good tacos. Ha! Glad to see some agreement though. :)

Cinco de Mayo seems legit. We also like the tacos at Cantina Mexicana.

As a person with a rare disease, I’d advise trying to focus on areas along the New Haven line. You can take the train to NYC (or New Haven) and see any doctor you want. That’s mostly why I commented, as I’m fairly new to CT and we are also looking to purchase a home (but we are middle aged and childless). I wish I had additional advice!
Your budget would certainly get you into many of the nice towns with good schools, but walkability is going to be harder in those towns due to the larger estates.

First, it’s not brick. It’s brick veneer. Second, all the homes in Texas literally look the same no matter where you are. It’s extremely boring.

It’s like this in the suburbs of Dallas too. Every suburb built at a certain time period looks like the next one built at the same time period, even if they’re an hour apart. All the buildings and strip malls are the same shades of brown. It’s horribly boring and depressing.

Concur. None of the ones we’ve bought the last couple of years have lasted. They don’t even make it a year. I’m done buying from Bombas.

We moved from the south to New England. My husband has raved about his Patagonia Jackson Glacier Parka. He never feels the slightest bit cold, and so far we’ve tested it down to around 10 degrees and high winds.

Downtown Stamford here. Crazy wind woke me up around 4:15 am. Pretty scary but I was getting wind like this quite often in north Texas, and it’s another reason why we left. I guess I’ve developed some degree of numbness to it at this point. We still have power as of 9:15 and things are significantly calmer. I hope the worst of the wind is over.

PURA is headed by Michael Caron, who is the Commissioner, along with two chairmen. Not the governor.

Pretty sure you need to be blaming Michael Caron, who is the Commissioner of PURA, or one of the two chairmen. And Eversource, who also has some fault. This isn't the governor's domain.

You’re gonna have to provide some evidence to substantiate your accusation.

Avoid BLT, as someone else said. Their buildings are unsafe. And I would recommend avoiding Element One. We’ve had a horrible experience here.

That's ok, we realize we probably have to sign a 12-month. We just need to make sure there's a way to break it (usually a fee and notice).
Edit: Not sure why I’m being downvoted. Nobody will give us month to month. We are looking for a house so that means we have to break the lease if we find one. I can’t help it that I need somewhere to live in the interim, but nobody wants to lease for less than 12 months. Landlords are paid a lot of money if we have to break a lease. They win in the end and we lose.
