The existence of businesses doesn’t require Main or Cary to be through streets. Side streets also exist as do alternate parallel streets. Just consider how much quieter and nicer streets like Hanover are and not coincidentally it doesn’t connect across 195 or across the Boulevard.

I swear people act like any minor prospect of change will cause the end of Richmond.

There is an interstate a few blocks South and not even a mile North of this road. Not to mention Broad st. Which is an actual primary road.

There’s no reason Main and Cary need to serve as thoroughfares to convey traffic from downtown to the west end. Close both, Cary at the end of Carytown and Main through VCU to disrupt existing traffic patterns that are redundant and dangerous while making the two primary pedestrian districts of the city safer and more enjoyable for all.

In general the people telling you that you live in the hood usually have almost no idea what they’re talking about. Everyone who lives in the burbs and watched local news is under the impression everything not on Broad or in the Church Hill historic district is open air drug markets and running gang battles 24/7.

That said, stay away from the Facebook groups for Church Hill, just incredibly toxic. Also lock your shit up if it’s on your porch otherwise don’t expect it to still be there.

Drove to Long Island for Christmas.

My least favorite part was sitting on the NJ turnpike in 12 degree weather at midnight on Christmas morning just before exit 1 in standstill traffic for an hour as a 4 car wreck that blocked all lanes north and south was cleared.

My 2nd least favorite thing was the Royal Farms food I bought Christmas Eve after bailing out off the Baltimore Washington Parkway which also was totally stopped due to a wreck. Those chicken tenders were bad, the mashed potatoes were bad, as were the max and cheese and veggie sub. Lesson learned on that one.

New Grand Mart has the best prices on produce and is usually fresher with a better selection than almost any other store. Aldi and Lidl tend to have the left overs of produce and it doesn’t last long, Kroger is a bit better but always pricier, Publix is the priciest and the quality can be better but Wegman’s usually has the best produce but it’s not easy for me to get to so I just stick to New Grand Mart.
