Oh heavens, we certainly don't want UNDEVELOPED LAND in our city when rich people could be making even more money for themselves with it!

The argument for a "bad precedent" seems to be we should bend over for every devoloper that wants to put in a strip mall or a boutique coffee shop or, in this case, luxury apartments and storage units that probably 5% of people in Springfield could hope to afford. Quick, give them a tax abatement and declare the area blighted so they can make even more money.

Don't worry, it'll pass. If not this time, the next time, or the next time. Stuff like this can fail 100 times, but only has to be successful once.

In ten years Galloway will look just like Republic Road does now.

At the full moon, place an Item of Great Significance such as your favorite beanie from middle school in the center of a pentagram while playing The Black Parade backwards, on repeat. If the ritual is successful The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will appear and present you with a pack of American Spirits and a map to the show.

During the pandemic. But things will never go back to the way they were now that places have realized they can get away with it.

From now on it's going to be download our shitty app, connect on a shitty social network, get "customer service" from a chatbot, pay for things that used to be free, etc.

Isn't this how every business operates now? I know that pretty much every place I call--whether it's a mechanic, a dentist, a mover, a bank, whatever--it's always leave a message and we'll call you back when we feel like it (or IF we feel like it).

It may not be applicable to your situation, but I've learned to just show up at places. They can ignore a phone call, but if you're standing in front of them you have made yourself a problem that they have to deal with to get you to go away. It sucks, but that seems to be what you have to do to get even a basic level of service now.

You didn't do anything wrong. As someone who has also experienced violence and tragedy (as many, many people have), it does feel like the world should stop, that no one should tell jokes or laugh or have a good time ever again because such a massive, incomprehensible thing has happened.

But that's just a feeling. In reality the world keeps going, mail still gets delivered, people still go to work, you still have to comb your hair and do the laundry.

You're not allowed to joke about vasectomies on Reddit, they are painless, 100% reversible, and there are no possible complications. Also, infant circumcision is a human rights violation, cars are evil, children are crotch goblins and literally the devil, all Christians are illiterate Trump supporters, Pitbulls are "nanny dogs" or "pibbles" and are less dangerous than Chihuahuas, and there are absolutely no health or societal risks involved with smoking weed. In short, all issues are completely black and white and have a clear right and wrong answer. Fuck cars, ACAB, where's the Tylenol.
