Yep usage volume vs volume (ie total kwh for a set billing period) is the way to compare.

Suspended not waived. Do you really think that RIE will just let you not pay bills for the winter then go back to normal afterwards?

And? The power company is going to let you keep the lights on indefinitely without paying? No, they'll come after the past due bills with collections and once you hit the cutoff date you'll be cut off.
The relevant point here is that will ultimately be the repercussion for collective action if its not done to an extent that massively impacts RIE.

Hey that's great, 1st time in 3 years I've seen an advertised supplier actually cheaper than the default.

Given that "the best deal possible" is 49% higher than what you were paying a few months before isn't really a deal it's just a way to normalize being shit on by a monopoly.

It's not "Good" that alternative sources are now competitive because the default source has increased their pricing so much.

I already have my own solar array so I did everything I could to avert this bullshit.

Yes you "can" find a different supplier but which of them are cheaper than the current RIE rate? Before RIE had a rate hike the only available options were more expensive, after RIE's rate hike they are still more expensive.
I am not sure if they were just that high before the hike, or if they had one of their own. The system for seeking an alternative is in place yes, but the alternatives are not cheaper making the whole thing moot.

Sad that this is being downvoted.

Collective action such as this is one of the best ways to get things done but Americans as a whole are terminally poisoned against it.
This is why shit like a 5% pay cut for like trash collectors gets half of Paris in the streets and shutting down a country until its reversed vs here where more horrible things happen all the time and you get downvoted and ridiculed for even suggesting that public protest / collective action even be attempted.
I'd like for things like this to occur but yeah in reality it'll be maybe 100 people round the state actually decide to do it and they just get cut off without any progress made at all.

Except for when your planned array size is for 90% of projected usage, based on the 3 year avg monthly Kwh from Natl. Grid and they get to tell the solar company that the array is still too big and to do it again.
Also this ignores the "justifies service to the property". I have already paid to have the electrical lines installed to the home. They aren't going to profit by coming over and ripping the line down to the house. I have to pay monthly connection fees etc to them no matter what. These are offset by credits for energy I now generate with the array but they are still profiting from the fees. Forcing it to 10% is only pure profit for them. There is no reason for it and they are the only entity that gets to decide that.

Fun part is that RIEnergy gets to have the final say in the size of solar array you can put on your house. So the one company that stands to lose money by you putting solar on your roof, gets to decide how much you're allowed to generate.
I feel that this should not even be possible.

Ok these are not the "best" per se but worth experiencing at least once.
Han Palace in Warwick. Go at night, drink a few middling but insanely cheap tiki drinks and get the teriyaki wings. Great combo, cheap as hell. 10/10 cheap dive drunk food experience imo.

I agree with your post but I am very wary of what will actually be defined as "permanent" since the law does not spell that out well at all. Guess who gets to be the test case? The 1st person arrested with a mag block. Then you get to see if a jury of your peers decides if your epoxy job is good enough to mean you broke no laws, or congrats now you're a felon, pay $5000 and lose all your guns to boot.

You will be a felon when the grace period ends if you are ever caught with the magazine. You'll have to at minimum sell off the magazine or destroy it.
Yes, the law will affect nearly all RI gun owners. r/RIGuns has fairly regular posts updating some of the current legal challenges to the new law but those have not resulted in any stay or anything yet so as of today Dec 21 is still the last day to own it legally.
The law mentions that magazines can be "irreversibly modified" to hold 10rds or less, but there is no clear indication as what would be allowed as "irreversible" so basically you could try to modify it and then see what the court says if anyone feels like pressing charges against you to see what will stick. If you're not white I wouldn't suggest you try that one out with the police / courts.

I also added a solar array + battery (last year) and have been using HomeAssistant for a few years.
You said it yourself, monopolistic power company. My anger is on behalf of those who cannot do anything but eat shit over rate hikes and have very few / no options but to do so. I (and probably you) have had the luxury to spend money up front to get ahead of things like this and save.
It all falls back into the "it's expensive to be poor" trap. It sucks. Holding local politicians accountable for appointments to oversight positions etc and those who vote down new generation facilities or methods are also part of the process and something I've invested a lot of time in since moving to RI.

e: what do you use to capture current data for your HA system? I've not done anything for usage monitoring just a lot of presence based and time based automation / made a few control kiosks etc from old tablets and such.
