Same in the Southeastern US. My older relatives in NC and SC say breakfast, dinner, supper. There was significant German settlement in central SC in colonial times, so maybe that's where it came from.

Reply to TIL that due to "Subjective Age" most children and adolescents feel older than they really are. But this switches at around 25. By age 30, around 70% of people feel younger than they really are, with the discrepancy between actual age and subjective age growing over time. by AspireAgain
True for me. When I was 40 I felt 35 and now at 58 I finally feel 40.

I live one state over in SC and did not know this, thanks for posting! I guess her racism and incitement to violence compensated for her gender. Not unlike a few current pols I can think of.

She wrote a novel, The Bell Jar, that sums up her despair pretty well.

They will show their teeth if they feel threatened, but they won't attack. Look up animal bites with your state's health dept and you won't find any opossums. They are more likely to roll over and play dead -- "play possum"

Opossums are also native, the only native marsupial in the Americas!

I grew up in Columbia and never heard of it. I have seen Richland called Richmond by out-of-staters though. People seem to think Virginia and the Carolinas are all one state.

The article misidentifies Richland County as "Richmond County," which doesn't exist. The lake is a reservoir located near a rehab center. It's actually named Village Lake, after the center. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_and_Drug_Abuse_Lake
