I usually rideshare TO Logan (as others have noted, the dropoff area isn't always consistent but the central drop off is only maybe 5-10 minutes away from any of the terminals except E) but take a cab FROM Logan. Rideshare drivers are notorious nowadays about canceling pickups at the last minute or forcing riders to initiate the cancel because they don't want to take you to your specific destination. I get why, the system screws us all, etc, but you don't have that fight with the cab stand.

No, but a general comprehension of spelling and grammar helps.

But in all seriousness, this is how the federal code basically works. Very simply put, Congress enables the federal government to do something, and leaves the details up to the executive branch to carry out the specifics. Look up any bill currently pending in Congress and you'll find very similar language.

I'll believe there's an issue when credible constitutional scholars say so; not when someone who is about to lose their income from making funny filtered videos on a dangerous platform scares me into believing it.

Lowell has some rough edges to it, but I think that's what you're looking for. It has UMass Lowell, so lots of college/grad-school roommate opportunities and housing situations, and is an actual small city (as opposed to, say, Billerica or Wilmington, which are more sleepy suburbs). Every time I visit friends up there I'm actually intrigued with the strong community vibe there in many places and surprising arts/culture scene.

I don't know the rental market there myself, but I can't imagine having trouble finding a good-to-great place for $1,200 if you're planning on living with roommates. Basic student rentals here where I live close to Tufts University are about $900-$1,000/month per room. That much further away from Boston and in a less expensive city overall and you'll be fine.

You could stay at lots of different places since the Orpheum is close to stops on several different T lines (Green, Orange, Blue, Red). However, considering the variability of a three-year-old, stay at the Omni Parker House right down the street. It's not the best hotel, but it's historic and cheaper than some of the other options nearby that night.

You keep mentioning a hotel: do you also need a place to stay for the night? Or are you just assuming that anyone can park at a hotel even if they aren't guests? The Longwood Inn you keep mentioning only has free parking for guests; starting at $129 a day (without taxes) for a room is not a cheap way to get parking.

Assuming you are just day-tripping into town, your best balance of cost to convenience is going to be parking at a T station itself. I don't recommend parking at one of the further out ones; the rates aren't cheaper and you'll just be sitting on the T for up to an hour. I think Wellington, as mentioned above, is the right fit of cost to proximity to downtown.

Ahh, so YOU'RE the reason we haven't had any real snow!

Just kidding! Congratulations on getting winter tires, and sorry you haven't really needed them. Mid-to-late March is usually pretty solid for avoiding the last of the possible snowstorms.

Years ago when I first moved here I met friends of mine who were in grad school there after work. I’m the only one in a suit, which I think explains the interaction I had. Friends walk in first, no cover. I start to walk in, and the doorman demands a cover from me. It’s 6pm, no band playing yet, but they will start at 8pm. Well after we’re gone, a fact that doesn’t matter to him.

He insisted that I, and I alone, pay a cover charge. My friends were inside wondering where I went. One eventually came out and heard us, so we bounced.

It was the dumbest doorman interaction I’ve ever had. I’m sure the bar is great based on everyone’s love of it, but I wasn’t feeling like giving them any of my money after that interaction.

If this is the only reason to join AAA, it would be worth it. Look into whether the service you're looking for is covered by their branches and sign up.

I've heard from several people who are otherwise unconnected (ie: didn't dine at the same place or live in the same household) who've been hit in the last two weeks.

One of them was told that, because they had a fever, it wasn't food poisoning but likely a GI virus, FWIW.
