Well, no, I was actually thinking of Kurzweil, because I hadn't heard of Vernor Vinge. As we've both noted, Kurzweil popularized the concept. That's why I've heard of him.

I don’t think that’s the best quote to describe what Kurzweil believed. He thought AI was coming to kill us. He was the one who popularized the idea, long before anyone else knew what he was talking about

Maybe because women are beautiful and men aren’t, by and large

I don’t know about the saying, but I’m a make who grew up way more like my father than my mother. She had a stronger personality and it just happened naturally.

I know, right? 300 meters? That could evaporate after a couple of hot July days

She was hot when young, as was her mom (sorry, but Liz was very cute as a young lady).
How does it happen? People age. What other answer could there be?

If you want to see a lot of big rocks balanced on small rocks, in the most amazing setting you can imagine, head to Palm Springs CA and the nearby Joshua Tree National Park.

Me too. Same same. I started again (after 24 years) because I’d gained a ton of weight from drinking too much. I cut out 80% of the alcohol and sort of replaced it with weed. I don’t think many doctors would tell you to do that, but my doc told me very sternly that I was risking serious health issues, and probably sooner than later, if I didn’t lose weight.
But, I knew from my past that daily weed use acts as an appetite depressant for me. So I did it. Now I’ve lost 60+ pounds, and my doc is thrilled. He didn’t even react much when I told him how I did it.
(Full disclosure: I did do a number of other things to facilitate the weight loss.)

I’m in NY but the law was passed just last year. I think a lot of stuff is gonna be opening up in 2023 so it’ll be interesting to see.

You mean instead of grow it? I’m sure there’s a way to do it right, but anything home-grown that I’ve ever smoked was pretty lame. I buy good stuff.

What do you think? I’m not quite sure how to put this, but… oh what the hell…
Jesus, it was a monster cock.
I just want to add, I’m aware of all the fakery here and everywhere, but I actually did see Tony Danza on this rented videotape. If you Google you’ll see there have been rumors. For all I know, what I saw could have been his only porn, could have been minimally distributed, could have never been transferred to the Internet. I just know it was him. You would too if you saw it

That’s not him.
But… I 100% did see Tony Danza in a porn flick. There’s no doubt it was him. This was a long time ago, so long that I had rented the DVD from a video store. I wasn’t looking for it. Ten minutes in, there he was. I’d guess the video was shot in the late 70s

I’ve got to get a good one. My son got me one for Christmas a couple years ago but the sound is not good. Anybody know a decent mid priced model? How much do high-end ones cost?
I have SO MANY vinyls from the 60s thru 80s that I want to play so bad

This would remove my main uneasiness about committed relationships. By now I have found that I need my own space in order to be happy. I was always in relationships, my whole life, and I’m struggling a bit this year, being single for an extended period for the first time in ages. I don’t know what the next chapter will hold
