I think jobs will always exist as long as humans are capable of doing anything better or cheaper than a machine.
Until we get to the point where we have robotic wives and children, there will always be jobs.

I wouldn't underestimate people's ability to invent fake jobs.

Reply to Chat-GPT 4 is here, one theory of the Singularity is things will accelerate exponentially, are there any signs of this yet and what should we be watching? by Arowx
Things move fast in the scheme of human history, but not fast on a day to day basis.
Chat-GPT is currently having very little effect on society outside of being a neat and interesting tool. It needs time to be widely adopted before it changes the world.
It will likely, hopefully, allow people to get more work done faster which will further increase the speed of progress.
GPT-4/5/6 will make learning easier for the next generations and lead to them being able to achieve more than their parents... but we have only just gotten the technology.

Honestly, forget the far future super crazy amazing stuff.
Even if the world in 50 years is only abit better than the world of today, it's still something to be excited about.
Even in the least optimistic scenarios, I'll still be able to get a graphics card better than a 4090 from the toy in a Mcdonald's happy meal.

It might, but honestly it's just as likely to euthanize us.

Being religious is coded into our DNA. If you are in this sub you are logical enough to not believe the mainstream miracles and instead believe in something 'realistic' like the singularity.

It's very hard to predict the future, and the uses of ChatGTP at this moment are fairly... boring and mundane.
In it's current form it's really just a cool cute little tool, and by the time it's really good everyone will be used to having it.

It's really the ultimate coinflip.
It's like we are a pack of wolves trying to create the first human.
