It's not a super walkable area though, there aren't a lot of businesses right around that intersection so the only reason to cross it would be if you were walking to someone's house. There's the school too but parents probably aren't letting their kids walk across that intersection to go there either. Look at all the intersections on this map and you will notice they are all in commercial areas.

When you look at car accidents, the intersection of Hermitage and Laburnum is #3 most dangerous (source)

Devil's advocate's devil's advocate here, but if they were properly dressed for a 30 minute line and not for a 5 hour line, that really is the venue's problem. It's not like these places have lockers and changing rooms for people to change from 5 layers of bundled up to fun in the club outfits. I just googled this show and it says the first act starts at 10 pm, so you'd expect doors to open between 8 PM and 9 PM, not 12 AM.

You could use sugar, but if you don't fully rinse it out then the inside of the glass pipe will get sticky and dirty faster. Since salt is not very expensive, there's no reason to use sugar.

Some people use rice, which seems like it absorbs some of the tar and is also abrasive. However rice can get stuck in small openings or even just to the inside walls, so I think salt is still a better option.

I'm not a lawyer but that seems less than clear to me. Employers are allowed to take a tip credit, where they pay employees non-tipped minimum wage and then take tips up to the point where they make up the tipped/non-tipped difference. Employers are also allowed to charge a service charge on the bill and don't have to give any of that to their employees. I know in other states, employers have been sued for letting managers take tips. If I were an employee there I'd at least do some Googling and do a free legal consultation

They do have a couple non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu, and I bet the bartenders would mix something up for you too. Order the soup of the day but non-alcoholic. Have a couple snacks, I really like the smoked trout dip and steak tartare, and then go hit another spot nearby for a real meal.

Different strokes for different folks but I find the prices not too bad, especially considering it's in Carytown where everything's more expensive. Pop in for happy hour and they have $6 classic cocktails and food. I like that they don't serve food, it keeps the tables turning over faster so you can usually walk in unless it's right after the peak wave.

Haven't been this year, have been in previous years. It's cool but not worth standing in that line for, you still have to pay for your drinks at the end of the night. I love The Jasper 11 months out of the year.
