“What do you call the fastest sheep in Scotland?” would be a fine setup for a one-word punchline.

Importantly, this is according to the movie. In the books, Sauron is not a giant eye on top of a tower.

IMO Aragorn’s arc in that final film comes off a little bit wonky because the initial script, which they filmed and only changed at the very last minute in post-production, included a final battle between Aragorn and Sauron himself in front of the Black Gate.
So a lot of other Aragorn sequences seem rushed or relatively inconsequential, because none were supposed to rival that climactic encounter. But then they swapped out Sauron for a troll at the last minute.
I think those plans for a big Sauron reveal and battle with Aragorn at the end really affected how they treated the ghost army and that part of Aragorn’s arc.

If you haven’t seen David Fincher’s filmography, you’re in for a treat.
Reeves was ripping off Fincher hardcore for The Batman, especially Seven and Zodiac.

Sure, but if we’re counting kids movies than we’ve got to scrap the entire premise, because we’ve had plenty of animated pirates movies since 2003. And Peter Pan movies.
I figured we were talking about dominance of the genre.

Until 65, the Jurassic Park franchise owned the dinosaur movie.

OP’s post is lazy and doesn’t give us much to work with, but, in principle, there’s nothing wrong with starting a discussion about whether a famous artist is coasting or stagnating.
Tim Burton gets called out every time he makes a movie.

To be fair, Jet Li was not the greatest actor, especially working in English, so they developed lots of films that just revolved around his martial arts skills and showmanship.
His agent made sure he struck while the iron was hot, at least.

Rival in what way? Financial success? Critical success? Artistic freedom?
I’m hopeful that the more egalitarian, profit-sharing enterprise spearheaded by Affleck and Damon works out. They may not ever be making the regular billion-dollar movies, but if they carve out a place where artists can consistently make mid-budget films for adult audiences, then I’d call that a success.

They made a movie called Hidden.
It wasn’t terrible but probably would have worked better as a short film.

Or I think he can have some issues with story structure but also obviously has enough of a grasp to be a successful and prolific screenwriter with some celebrated works under his belt too.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say “no clue,” but I do wonder if he has a certain workman-like approach to the craft, where he’s comfortable cranking out a story that works well enough and just calling it a day, as opposed to taking the time to live with a script and question not only if it is literally coherent, but if it’s as strong as it can be.
This enables him to crank out lots of work, but some of it is just content.

What a faux tough guy response. The victimhood is off the charts.
Asking people to politely hide spoilers online is equivalent to “blocking public discourse on art”? Are you applying for a job with Tucker Carlson or something?

That’s a horrible analogy.
Your example would line up better with someone actively clicking into an official discussion thread for a movie and then asking people to not talk about the movie.

I’d say the same argument applies.
The age of the movie doesn’t matter as much as it’s pop culture ubiquity. Because the movie might be 50 years old, but every day there’s some kid turning 15-16 who is just now old enough to see the movie for the first time. They didn’t drag their feet and miss the bus, they just weren’t born yet.
