Reply to comment by DumbbellDiva92 in TIL about Lillan Bloodworth, who donated blood every 56 days for nearly 50 years. By the time she stopped at age 85, she had donated 23 gallons. (The average person's body contains about 1.5 gallons.) by WouldbeWanderer
That is surprising, not sure why I assumed this was a North American standard for donating blood since it was based on a scientific study.

Something is off here, in Canada females must wait 84 days between blood donations.
Men wait 56 days

Reply to comment by railroadbutterfly in TIL Mountain Gorillas almost never drink water. They get their hydration from from their plant diet and morning dew. Despite living in rainforests, they also tend to dislike rain and try to not get wet when crossing a stream. They have never been observed drinking water in the wild before 2013 by Ainsley-Sorsby
I thought that's what it said until I read your comment!!

interesting read here.

>his report of giant Indian ants, "midway between dogs and foxes in size", who dig up gold; or the griffins "who stand guard over gold" in the mountains beyond Scythia? These are the kind of stories that, while they add hugely to the enjoyment of reading The Histories, have resulted in a long tradition of dismissing Herodotus as gullible at best, and at worst a liar.
