U do realize that things could be worse? There are no actual fleshed-out Republican/libertarian strategies, their whole schtick in Baltimore is “we aren’t democrats” literally no policy otherwise. So how someone could assume that the groups without any explicit or sensible plans are going to improve things? Doesn’t make any sense

If the union can’t negotiate better than what is already the baseline for non-union employees… whose fault is that? It’s not mandated by law for the union to get preferential treatment during negotiations, either.

More union members = more leverage. If working at Apple or Starbucks was more horrible then they would probably have more union members and therefore more leverage. But this is Reddit where no one can bother to think critically when they could be complaining about the wages of Starbucks and Apple employees who are better compensated than just about any other retail or food service job. If the lowest paid of us were better off, we would all be better off. Why it makes sense to ppl here to not focus on the groups with the lowest wages and least benefits with the most stolen wages etc etc but hey why think rationally about something when we could emotionally downvote the trendy things to hate and promote the poorly developed hivemind ideas that prolly aren’t going to work

If the union doesn’t have enough leverage, this is the result. I know it’s popular to think Starbucks and Apple should be unionizing but the truth is that they compensate way better and more fairly than other fast food places, wal mart, and so many other big companies. Which IMO should really be the places that the general public ought to advocate unionization

I hate when it’s nice enough to have the windows open at my house but then an ice cream truck pulls up and spews the worst smelling exhaust fumes everywhere and making tons of noise while camped outside my house. Idk what is up with ice cream trucks that they have to be so noisy and stinky but man are they annoying

  1. of developed nations which would even be holding marathons we are much higher up - and even when considering all-in, to be in the top 1/3 of density is considerable

  2. should other countries that do dumb things be considered role models? If so, when are other countries going to adopt our gun policies

  3. what infrastructure is in place already for events like burning man? Why isn’t that hosted in the downtown area of a major city? If that many ppl are coming from so far away that running for a few hours requires a city’s worth of infrastructure, maybe it’s really selfish and economically moronic to shut down the entire city for a day so that a few hundred people who choose to live somewhere inconveniently located can still expect to majorly inconvenience hundreds of thousands of people who didn’t choose to live in the middle of nowhere
