Apparently it was a really crappy night, weather-wise. The 18 year old promoter lined up a full size Bosendorfer to make him happy but didn't pull the trigger because they moved it into the opera house in the rain, the piano would be permanently damaged and she'd be on the hook for it...

It is possible but not likely those kids are still alive.

Some assumptions: it is actually from the 1940's. The youngest kids are 5 and the oldest kids are 10.

If the picture was taken in 1940, the oldest kids would be 93 and the youngest kids would be 88. If it was taken in 1949, the oldest would be 84 the youngest 79.

Life expectancy of a white American born in 1930 was 59.7 for boys and 63.5 for girls. Fast forward to 1940 and it jumps to 62.1/66.6 years.

I don't know about in the US, but here the photograph must be professionally taken and stamped with the business name/date on the back

The photographer can use makeup or powder or spray to dull your dome.
If the photo is rejected, the photographer will re-shoot the picture for free.

TIL that Rickey Henderson was so proud of earning a million dollar signing bonus that he had the check framed instead of cashing it. He saved the envelopes of cash teams gave players for per diem expenses, allowing his kids to pick them out of a box when they did well in school
