Oh ok. I’m not familiar with this scenario. If the original designer is still actively selling them then that’s different

Yea I understand how group buys work. When I say making enough I’m not talking about all at once. I take issue with the fact that they don’t usually continue with more rounds of group buys. If you miss the one group buy or you don’t get one of the limited available boards then you’re screwed.
It’s different if a company is actively making a product and clones take sales away from the original designer. But if the original designer is not going to make anymore then they aren’t losing money. Legal or not I’m fine with cloning in that situation because there’s no other way to get one.

If they don’t want the make enough boards for people to buy then screw em. Bring on the clones!

I used to work in a building full of scientific researchers. The last time there was a solar eclipse it was fun seeing all the contraption people used to look at it.
For example one doctor brought out overexposed X-ray film to look through. Another one brought a test tube full of methylene blue to look through.

I don’t think you’re dumb for making unconfirmed assumptions. They should’ve at the very least had info in the box if they’re gonna be too lazy to put the caps on before selling it to you

They don’t even put the keycaps on the switches for you when you buy it?

On a side note, have you ever thought about integrating a fingerprint reading into a keyboard to login to windows and auto fill passwords.
Like integrating something like this:

I thinks it would be done by integrating a 2 port usb hub in the keyboard pcb. One usb for the keyboard and another for the fingerprint reader. Just a random idea I had recently
