Yea, I used to work for Gartner Events 20 years ago, and it was eye-popping to see the major tech companies drop million dollar contracts with us as soon as the event was announced. Apparently they thought the ROI for that was really good, but I can't see that nowadays.

Another thing about E3 was it was mostly aimed at the press and other tech companies. I think a lot of these exhibitors realized that a lot of gamers generally don't trust the press anymore for reviews and would rather see games first hand or through word of mouth.

Well that's unfortunate but not surprising. You hear a lot about State of Play or Nintendo Directs, but it seems like they don't want to do big in-person shows anymore.

I remember going to Pax East a decade ago, and everyone who was anyone was there, and getting the three day badge was worth it. Now the show floor is almost entirely tabletop games or indie studios (which is fine!), and there's usually only a few big-name people doing panels. Still a good day trip but not what it was.

I like him. I'm a Democrat and I voted for him for governor last election.

That being said, if it was Biden vs Sununu in 2024 (which is extremely unlikely), I wouldn't vote for him.

Every time my contract is up, I call and tell them I'm going to cancel because it's too expensive, and I get a better deal. The worse possible scenario is you do actually drop it, go to Fidium for a short while, and then go back as a "new" customer.

Same goes for SiriusXM, they want to charge me $21/m but I'm actually paying like 9 because I threatened to cancel.

Yes, but this all reminds me of the "Xerox invented the GUI" stuff. It's not sure it makes who invents what, it matters who can go to market with it.

Google has been treading water for years, living off stuff they already made and people depend on. When they stop depending on it and/or it gets regulated out of existence, they're screwed.

Despite being a purple state that's trending bluer each election, we still are a small-government kind of state. If you're expecting a lot from the state government, you're going to be disappointed. It's a system that actually works pretty well, but people who move up here from Mass sometimes are shocked.

What kind of work are you going to be looking for after you graduate?

I think if the fart cloud of death was going to move, it would have done so at this point.

I think Ohio is in the "It's not safe to move back yet, but we're going to tell you to do so because this looks bad politically" phase right now.

I'm curious if there have been any cases of schools making the bathrooms or locker rooms not same-sex in the state? Or is this politicians watching too much cable news?

They're going to do the primary as usual here, regardless of whether or not the delegates get penalized for not listening to the national party. The momentum of candidates is what's important (supposedly).

In 2020, there were 24 delegates up for grabs in NH, and there were 3979 total. Those 24 "not counting" doesn't really matter.

Yea, Manchester's really not like that. You're not going to walk into the wrong area and someone will take violent offense to your presence. It's more like walking off Elm Street into a dark road and getting mugged kind of thing. There's been a lot of stories in the past few years about that happening in broad daylight in the parks.

It's really just a matter of keeping an eye out for your surroundings, like any city.

Manchester's not THAT bad, despite what people say, especially compared to big cities.

Generally avoid the tree streets (east of Elm St), especially at night if you're by yourself. Avoid the parks if you're by yourself. Watch out for homeless encampments.

What kind of job did you get?
