OP's fiance already purchased the ring, so rudely trashing their choice is incredibly pointless. Diamonds are an extremely durable stone for daily-wear jewelry pieces. It could be an ethically sourced lab grown diamond.

The article also mentions that they're going to make sure to include characters of color (who were left out of the 70s movie) and tell stories of "social justice".

Once again we have to hit that sweet sweet nostalgia g-spot while also acknowledging that the time periods and media we're so rabidly nostalgic for had some pretty unsavory aspects.

Pick one. Either accept that you can't make a 1950s show with 2022 morals, or stop clinging to outdated properties for recognition.

I don't think 1950s-style gender and relationship dynamics will translate well into 2022, and since we're seemingly incapable of viewing things as "of the times" there will almost certainly be an effort to update its sociopolitical messaging.

In short, we don't need this.

Also, I really love how one of the songs is misnamed as "Grease Lightning". Journalistic standards!!

My husband and I got out $200 to play slots with at the MGM casino. We dressed up kinda fancy and wanted to feel like ballers.

It was gone in about ten minutes. Stupidest $200 we'd ever spent. Also depressing to see the people staring into the machines like they were looking into the face of God.

^(actually i've always been a fast typist but my reddit argument typing is lightning speed)

Listening to the Children of God series on my way up to decorate the tree with family has become a tradition for me, ever since my husband pointed out it's one of the worst ones to listen to before a family gathering.

If Nextdoor is any indication, people think that drug deals will be happening constantly in the parking lot (so little Johnny and Susie will get hooked on reefer!) and unsavory criminals will be waiting at Sheetz to kidnap any children within a 500 foot radius and be gone on the interstate before Mama even notices that little Johnny and Susie aren't in the candy aisle anymore.

Also all the nice suburban houses will Animorph into billboards and the community center will become a giant shopping mall, thus "commercializing quiet suburbs".
