Yeah all of those poor and low income PoC that voted for Adams in the primary (and were the ones that gave him the win) were really swayed by Fox News and similar “fear mongering” media.
https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2021-nyc-mayoral-analysis/
There’s the breakdown of the demographics and districts that voted for each candidates in the mayoral democratic primary.
“Black, Latino and low-income voters from New York City’s outer boroughs gave Eric Adams a decisive edge in the 2021 Democratic mayoral primary in June. The average median income in assembly districts that the Brooklyn Borough President carried was roughly $55,000, compared to $111,000 in the districts where former sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia received the largest share of votes.”
I know actual statistics aren’t fair sometimes, but to paint an entire group of voters as uninformed and fear mongering is extremely patronizing.

Not likely unless they quit/got fired. But you never know. Sometimes attorneys can work magic tho.

Gotta hope the cop doesn’t show up. There’s no pleaing down tickets in nyc.

It’s not uncommon in this city for people to get away with causing bodily harm to someone else with no repercussions?

This is also true. I’d imagine the vehement champions of “bail reform” probably desperately want anyone who injures someone with a vehicle to serve the maximum sentence, and be held pretrial. They can’t have it both ways

The meteorologist who got beaten on the train can possibly have life long pain and no ones getting charged in that case either.

I mean they gain a lot of traction and get a lot of comments because quality of life issues and crime directly effect people that live here. If people didn’t care they wouldn’t comment.

That’s actually a lot lower of a number than I thought, for a city of 8 million people I’d say we’re doing a pretty good job.
Just like there’s never going to be no crime, there’s never going to be no accidents.

And you think that if they’re still “for” George Santos at the point, a post like this will change their mind?

There were days in last week where there were 5+ posts a day about him and they all stayed up. There are 3 so far today. It is almost universally agreed that he’s a lunatic and shouldn’t be in office. r/longisland was inundated with posts and felt this was the best way to handle it. The mods created a “crime megathread” for WAY less posts, so it would make sense for there to be one on this topic as well.

They’re very well aware and most want him to resign. I also don’t think they’re looking at the nyc subreddit and basing their opinion of posts here. You’re “preaching to the choir”.

A tiny sliver of queens. He’s also universally hated by democrats and (most) republicans. Even Fox News hates him.

Hard hitting journalism from the gothamist. No one could have foreseen evictions increasing after the end of the moratorium!
“The number of legal residential removals rose each month from January to November following the end of the pandemic-spurred eviction moratorium that halted all but 239 legal removals between March 15, 2020 and its expiration on Jan. 15, 2022, according to city data.”
