He “Barely won the primary”. Yet low income PoC overwhelmingly voted for him and pushed him over the edge. The same communities that people on here pretend to champion for and claim “aren’t concerned about crime” and vehemently hate the police.

Just like we have r/Micromobilitynyc , everyone concerned about issues related to micromobility should only discuss it there. Yet that sub is consistently cross-posted here

If this is going to continue, there needs to be clear cut rules on what can be delegated to here. For example, this post was delegated to the crime thread by one mod, which really made no sense as it wasn’t an article about a specific crime, and was later allowed by another mod to be approved and posted.
I see the mod who locked that thread also deleted their post sooo.

Apparently cars blocking bike lanes are pretty serious crimes since those posts are consistently allowed.

Not to mention you’re going to be hard pressed to find people wanting to drive local busses on the overnight shift regardless of the shortage.

He literally ran on a “tougher on crime” platform. That was a major part of his message and campaign, so much so that most on this sub labels him a Republican.

The communities don’t hate the police, or else they wouldn’t have voted for Eric Adams, a cop, in the Democratic Mayoral primary.

You need operators for those busses tho.

Many of them burn bridges with their families/friends, it’s sad but it usually starts with addiction, which leads to homelessness. These aren’t people who were dutiful members of society who suddenly lost their job and are now getting high and harassing people on the subway for money.

Yea, I can’t see why it was either.
Here’s a link to the previous thread that was locked and delegated to the crime thread, for reference.

The only people concerned about crime are “right wing fascists” and “not from here”.

“I’m appalled by our city’s failure to help the individuals who must resort to asking strangers for some cash or food, and the fact that homeless individuals sometimes need to sleep on the subway because homeless shelters are a less safe option than sleeping on the street or on the train.”
Except the city does provide food for these people, it’s nearly impossible to go hungry in this city. The sad reality is the majority of pan handlers are addicts/and or mentally ill, and not typical “down on their luck” homeless. The vast majority of the homeless population in this city, also, do utilize the shelter system. Its a small subset that choose to (attempt) to live in the subway and on the streets.
Also her “commute” is from upper Manhattan to Columbus Circle, not exactly the average NYers commute. This author seems pretty naive and out of touch, tbh.
All she had to do was say she was “very satisfied” (ie. it’s not something that she regularly deals with or experiences), instead of virtue signaling about how she feels her lived experience is representative of everyone’s.

Just like the constant posting about cars in the bike lanes are causing “mass hysteria” that this is the major issue our city faces. And I didn’t say I thought your opinion was invalid for living on Staten Island, it’s just that the majority of people this sub do. Look at any post on here about Staten Island, it’s literally all negativity and people talking shit. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Have a good night.

You should actually read article, unless you don’t give a shit about the plights that immigrant delivery workers face.

So discussing crime makes them “spam posts”? Sorry that you think I’m not allowed to discuss topics I’m interested in. A quick sweep of youre profile shows that your from Staten Island, the majority of this sub will invalidate your opinion based on where you live and talk shit about your borough at every chance they get, fyi.
And you started with me by making personal attacks and claiming I’m a bot/looking through my post history.

So if it’s a post about a car in a bike lane it’s fine, but if it’s a post about the plights that working immigrants face it’s not.

The “weekly crime thread” was specifically about crime posts not about discussions that happen to arise on a post. They weren’t planning on banning every time someone posts about a crime in a thread that was secondary to the initial topic.

This got delegated to the “weekly crime thread” after it was posted yesterday, even tho it’s hardly a “crime post”. Let’s see what the mods do this time.

This is probably the most reasonable argument for not banning crime posts.
