True, how do we know he wasn’t in the middle of a mental health crisis?

Freezing temperatures, and shelters already at capacity. This will go well.

Do you actually think that the people living on the streets were paying 3k a month for an apartment a few months ago, but when they went to renew their lease the increase was too much so they’re homeless on the street?

Does this include the migrants who are in the shelters?

Many homeless people are addicts, which is why they ended up homeless in the first place. There’s a reason why their family doesn’t want them staying with them. If you violently assault someone in a homeless shelter you should have the book thrown at you.
Grass8989 t1_j0n5mhx wrote
The book should be thrown at someone who commits a violent crime in a homeless shelter, full stop. These are people trying to get their lives back on track and those who create a dangerous environment should removed from society.

These same people are championing “housing first” for the people who create dangerous environments in shelters. Would you want the person who stabbed this woman as your neighbor?

Probably because it makes democrats look bad, which is why our news outlets refuse to report on a lot of things. (And I’m a registered Democrat and have only voted for democrats)

“Lander’s annual “State of the City’s Economy and Finances” report, published late Thursday, finds that the city’s budget should include a projected $1 billion annually in spending through 2026 to cover costs tied to housing, educating and feeding migrants — especially with the expiration of the ‘Title 42’ federal border policy on Dec. 21. “
Lander is the comptroller, this isn’t an opinion piece. Just because you don’t like a news source doesn’t mean the facts aren’t true.

I mean everyone on here constantly brings up the salaries of city employees/civil servants and that nearly everyone is committing “overtime fraud”. Why should non profits, who are also getting funds from the city, be able to hide their financials?

There are for sure some non-profits that do good work, but there really needs to be more oversight on how they are appropriating their funds.

Im assuming he hasn’t specified which particular ones he’s funding yet, but I mean can you blame anyone for being skeptical? ThriveNYC was a complete disaster and made nearly no noticeable different in anything that could help the mentally ill population.
