The only people concerned about crime are “right wing fascists” and “not from here”.

“I’m appalled by our city’s failure to help the individuals who must resort to asking strangers for some cash or food, and the fact that homeless individuals sometimes need to sleep on the subway because homeless shelters are a less safe option than sleeping on the street or on the train.”
Except the city does provide food for these people, it’s nearly impossible to go hungry in this city. The sad reality is the majority of pan handlers are addicts/and or mentally ill, and not typical “down on their luck” homeless. The vast majority of the homeless population in this city, also, do utilize the shelter system. Its a small subset that choose to (attempt) to live in the subway and on the streets.
Also her “commute” is from upper Manhattan to Columbus Circle, not exactly the average NYers commute. This author seems pretty naive and out of touch, tbh.
All she had to do was say she was “very satisfied” (ie. it’s not something that she regularly deals with or experiences), instead of virtue signaling about how she feels her lived experience is representative of everyone’s.

Just like the constant posting about cars in the bike lanes are causing “mass hysteria” that this is the major issue our city faces. And I didn’t say I thought your opinion was invalid for living on Staten Island, it’s just that the majority of people this sub do. Look at any post on here about Staten Island, it’s literally all negativity and people talking shit. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Have a good night.

You should actually read article, unless you don’t give a shit about the plights that immigrant delivery workers face.

So discussing crime makes them “spam posts”? Sorry that you think I’m not allowed to discuss topics I’m interested in. A quick sweep of youre profile shows that your from Staten Island, the majority of this sub will invalidate your opinion based on where you live and talk shit about your borough at every chance they get, fyi.
And you started with me by making personal attacks and claiming I’m a bot/looking through my post history.

So if it’s a post about a car in a bike lane it’s fine, but if it’s a post about the plights that working immigrants face it’s not.

The “weekly crime thread” was specifically about crime posts not about discussions that happen to arise on a post. They weren’t planning on banning every time someone posts about a crime in a thread that was secondary to the initial topic.

This got delegated to the “weekly crime thread” after it was posted yesterday, even tho it’s hardly a “crime post”. Let’s see what the mods do this time.

The vast majority of working class PoC don’t hate the police as much as the media likes to portray. If that was the case low income PoC wouldn’t have overwhelmingly voted for Eric Adams (a cop) in the Democratic primary for Mayor.

$300 million out of a $38 billion budget isn’t it being “gutted”, especially when enrollment has been pretty significantly declining.

Could one of the mods explain how/why this post was delegated to this thread when it’s literally a broad article about the dangers and low pay that delivery workers face and not a post about a “specific crime”.

Right it’s to keep obviously dangerous people away from the public
“Kuilan was arrested by the department’s warrant squad, and was also sought on a warrant in a menacing case from Sept. 2, 2021, the chief said.
Sources said he pulled a knife on the victim in that case and threatened, “Are you okay with dying?” “

They reported the crime, and released video footage and images of the attack to news outlets. Yea, I’d say that’s someone whos concerned, or else they would have just fixed the window and brought no attention to it.
