Maybe the article has the wrong info, but from the article:
“The R211s come with:
Security cameras on the ceilings Wider door openings (58 inches compared to 50 inches on existing train cars) Open “gangway” passageways (similar to articulated buses with their “shotgun” layouts)”

Those open gangways are going to be rough.

Yup, could you imagine the costs if they were digging all of these tunnels fresh?

No one seems to be coming up with a way it could be done more cost effectively, and with unions and regulations (which are important as these stations need to be made safely), I doubt they could cut much of the costs.
Edit: if anyone downvoting would like to tell me an actual plan that can reduce costs associated with building new subway stations feel free.

Obviously it would be ideal to create a ton of new subway stations and make public transportation more accessible, but it’s very obviously fiscally impossible.

Hard-hitting reporting from the gothamist. I’m shocked they’re even addressing this. That’s how you know it’s a real issue.

Hard hitting journalism by the gothamist! The gothamist should get an automod warning similar to the post.

It’s funny because MANY OF these countries that they cite that have less incarceration than we do, have WAY stricter punishments when it comes to rape. You definitely wouldn’t be walking free pretrial.

He should be out of prison by now for attempting to rape a 16 year old?

Care to share any cases of parking garage fires in this city recently? Many buildings have parking garages attached to them.

Id imagine because amount of battery power required to propel a bike to 30 mph is significantly more than needed to power a vape pen

Yea, people regularly go on targeted violent rampages with uhaul trucks. That’s totally comparable to unregulated e-bike batteries exploding.

E-bikes should need to be registered, insured, you should need a license, have to pay tolls, etc by that logic.

The fire that’s been burning since 1pm due to this e-bike battery explosion is doing great things for this city.

I mean, that sub also openly advocates for destroying property so it’s not really surprising.
