If you’ve ever wondered what it takes for a to period piece to break into Netflix’s Top 10, it’s sex. Lots and lots of sex plus a nekkid man running through the rain with a flapping penis.

Lady Chatterly’s Lover was a censored book when it came out. While the scandalous tale might not be banned anymore, it’s still not a movie to watch with your parents.

It’s not the gore, it’s the suffering of boys being sent to the trenches to die or if they didn’t die, emerge with PTSD (not that there was such a diagnosis). And for what? The amusement of powerful men.

Right?! It’s not like I’m going to display those suckers in my house because frankly I’m a terrible runner. At least when they’re on a tree I can be like “did you see the super cute ornament next to the marathon medal?” in the event someone asks about my time.

I’m a 9/10 on the Marie Kondo minimalism spectrum and almost threw away my Christmas tree last year. I’m sure u/I-got-a-truck was disappointed to be out of a gig when I realized I could use the top 1/3 of the tree as my entire holiday decor. I’m putting it up this week in time to host a party. Yay!

Edit to add: Life pro tip.- medals from running races make excellent ornaments. If you’re like me, they sit in a box for 11 months a year.

Last year I made a divisive post about going to At Home during the holiday season. I’m trying to avoid that store until after I get my Charlie Brown Christmas tree fully decorated because buying pink ornaments > my willpower to keep my home pink-free.

I could hug last summer GrayRVA for scheduling PTO yesterday and today. Yesterday was like a snow day when I logged onto work and realized I was off. I read exactly one email before saying see ya later, suckers.

The SO and I binged hard on horror movies/series over the weekend and we drew battle lines over whether vintage films are scary. Halloween and Hellraiser were two that I found laughable because of the shitty special effects and acting.

Question for anyone who watched American Horror Story Hotel- we didn’t make it through the first episode because of the straight up gore. Did the guy in the bed missing his eyeballs and tongue survive?
