My mom is near there and all up in arms but can't explain why. They're also building a new Exxon where Liberty Valance was and no one is saying shit about that.

Carpenter for 15 years and ops manager for a cabinet company for the last 6 where I oversaw anywhere from 1000-1500 installs a year. Lowes and HD both sell the exact same name brand lines as every big local cabinet company in the area with the only difference being the local places get a couple extra finish options and door styles.
Never said there aren't good installers. I'm saying the local cabinet companies don't use any of the good ones. To get a decent install you'd have to find a decent designer, installer, and play GC yourself because you're not going to get that as a package for a single remodel.

Craigslist and rent a truck from Home Depot or Lowes. People sell practically new furniture for cheap just to get rid of it pretty often. Truck rental will prob cost you $50-100 or so by the time you tack on mileage and fuel.
Never paid more than a couple hundred for a single piece of furniture doing it that way.

Yeah I'm not really recommending either, but both carry the same cabinet lines as the bigger local cabinet companies. Only difference is its cheaper and easier to hold the big box stores accountable and a lot of times it's going to be contracted out to the same shitty installers.

Good luck. There's very few people worth a shit in that industry in this area and the few solid people I know of that I'd recommend retired in the last two years.
You're going to be better off going to Lowe's or Home Depot than dealing with any of the bigger local cabinet companies. The local companies all make the bulk of their money on tract homes and most don't want to work with retail customers.

Was he a cop? I assumed he worked for those departments but not in a law enforcement role based on the wording. Police departments have civilian roles like secretaries, people who work in the armories, clerical staff, etc.

Had 3 different clients send me 2-3 bid requests a piece that they want by next Wednesday. Blueprints for all of them are absolute garbage and my 2 main sales reps are on vacation all next week.
Really considering just leaving early and going to the bar because fuck this shit. It's not realistic to expect a bid within 7 days of a request in the first place, let alone during a major holiday.

There's a lot of stuff that got shelved coming back up for possible construction right now. Material costs and and availablity are finally stabalizing.
I've done more bidding in the last month than I did in the previous six because most of the material I work with (wood products) have dropped by anywhere from 40-60% in the last six weeks.
Not saying there's not a recession coming, but I don't think construction is going to get hit as hard as usual.

Reply to How often is street cleaning? by Andrew_64_MC
Signs go up a few times a year, whenever Seiberts needs some extra money from towing people with little to no warning.
Actual cleaning, at least in Church Hill, once every 4-5 years and even then they'll basically just run down the middle of the street and miss a bunch of streets.
Been in my current place going on 7 years and they've done an actual cleaning on my block including the gutters once in that time.

The circles flat out shouldn't exist. Almost none of them have enough foot print for visibility, let alone enough room for anyone to be "in" the circles to yield to in the first place. All they do is introduce confusion into an intersection where there didn't used to be any. Nevermind how many people have zero idea how they're supposed to work and either just flat out stop and treat it like a stop sign or on the ones big enough to actually have traffic in them, just stop in the middle of them to let people.
The only ones in Church Hill that really work how they should are the one at the end of Jefferson and the one at the end of 25th by The Market. The rest of them are basically just planters shoved in the middle of intersections for no real reason.
Not excusing the drivers either, but this wasn't an issue before when there were stop signs instead of circles at a lot of these intersections.

Yeah, the whole business model of dropping them wherever and letting them be everyone else's to take care of is stupid at best. Surprised no one has tried tripping over them and suing over it.
