My wife and I make around $200k combined, and pay $2,000/month in mortgage all in. Before I made good money, I rented and had two roommates. It was a nice place and everyone was respectful, but that can be hard to find. For many years, I made less than $60k, and had rent in the $850 range. It does suck. I’ve always had two jobs too.

Vernon Hill is not great. It’s not Main South or the area off Belmont St, or the Projects. But that being said it’s not ideal for your circumstances. I love Worcester and there are lots of good areas, so don’t give up on the city!

It’s hit or miss. The last storm, all the cars on our street that were parked on the wrong side of the street due to winter declared ban were ticketed. Other times, I’ve never seen anyone get a ticket. I think the more dense neighborhoods, they do enforce more. But also enforcement seems to be during weekday, business hours.
