A land value tax would replace the existing property tax, and only tax the value of the land itself, not any buildings or other improvements.

It's very popular on r/neoliberal. I don't know too much about it though.

I too enjoy r/neoliberal but I haven't really looked into LVT that much. Any suggestions on what I should read to learn more about it? Besides the "just tax land lol" meme.

Reply to Erie, Pa….I’m curious what is the perception of Pennsylvanians of Erie…it’s basically separated from the rest of the urban areas by Miserable-Gold-1493
I've never been there and I don't know anyone from there. I think of it as more of a Great Lakes city like Cleveland, Toledo, etc. (though I haven't really been to those cities besides briefly passing through on the way to Chicago). I am a bit familiar with the Indiana lakefront so I guess it's similar to that. Presque Isle seems like a cool place to visit.

How are they a right wing organization? They sued Florida for the "stop woke act," advocated for a student whose school denied recognition for his club because it supported universal healthcare, and advocated for a Stanford student whose diploma was put on hold after he satirized the Federalist society and Republicans.

Between what dates should one wear orange on state game lands? I've always been confused about this since it seems that there is at least some hunting season year round.

I visited Assateague island with my family in December a few years ago, and it was great. Yes, it was somewhat cold but there were no crowds. Got to see some of the feral horses as well.

A speaker has to be elected though. Democrats do not have a numerical majority for the time being, so they couldn't have done any better. The options were a consensus candidate (in this case Rozzi), or a Republican.

Republicans have more seats for the time being (until vacancies are filled), so Democrats couldn't have elected a speaker without some Republican support.

Lots of hiking trails, but the most well known view is Canyon Vista.
Also, I've never been there but the Haystacks are not far from there in Loyalsock State Forest. They are rock formations in the Loyalsock Creek.

I agree that PA is beautiful, but NY is far from flat, and has significantly bigger mountains than PA (the Catskills and Adirondacks).
Also you need to visit the states out west. They are truly stunning.

Sure, but that's only because the number of hunters is low compared to the general population. Everyone living off of hunted deer wouldn't be sustainable.

Ultimately it would be nice if we could eliminate animal agriculture, thus reducing the amount of farmland we use and allowing us to rewild much of it.

Reply to comment by themollusk in Pennsylvania Rep. Cutler moved $50M from Speaker's account; Democrats cry foul by themollusk
This was partly due to poor strategy on the Democrats' part. Austin Davis and Summer Lee simultaneously ran for higher office and the state house, won both, and now have to vacate their seat in the state house. If they had chosen just one office to run for, the House would have been 101-101 at this point.
However, I still question the ability of Republicans to pass their amendments. They cannot afford any defections, assuming that all 99 Democrats stay united, and I think there may be a few Republicans in the Philly suburbs who are unwilling to support these amendments.
