Your arguments have been too strawmany to take seriously. But developers can still build affordable units and make a profit, especially if they take advantage of the aforementioned zoning bonuses

We already have zoning bonuses for having affordable units or other public amenities. 90% of the time a developer will take a zoning bonus with the promise of having a green grocer and then you end up with a bank branch

What if we built more affordable units now instead of hoping that older units might become available at cheaper rents sometime down the road?

Is this the best you’re going to do? You’re leaving the bigotry up but removing comments calling it bigotry?
At least tell me he’s getting a ban for this bullshit

Tennessee’s anti drag bill classified drag personages as lewd acts the same as stripping.
Florida’s don’t say gay bill is worded that a teacher can be punished for admitting acknowledging that same sex relationships exist.
Bathroom bills are hateful and do nothing other than to punish trans people.
Your statements about trans kids are misinformed.

The point is that Philadelphia can attract people fleeing the places that do discriminate

The ones that ban teachers from acknowledging same sex relationships exist. The ones that threaten people with felony charges for wearing clothing associated with the other gender. The ones that put children in danger if they dare to express themselves as who they are.

When there are laws being passed specifically aimed at discriminating against the LGBT community, yeah, this is an issue that matters. It could also be good for the city by reinforcing that we’re a community that accepts all people. Moves like this can entice people fleeing discrimination to move here

Fair enough, I'm reacting based on past experience with people who think because they aren't a full foot into the street they're parked legally. It's especially common in Fishtown and Port Richmond.

It's tough to tell from this angle, but I'm guessing that bollard is the further back you can legally be parked. Anything behind it will obstruct turning radiuses and sight lines. If your tail end is too close you're parked illegally, even if there's enough clearance for a car to fit behind you and not be int the intersection itself.

Looks like you might be too close to the intersection. If you’re too close there isn’t enough room for people to make the turn

The thing about that is if a taxi denies you a ride because of where you’re going you can report them and they risk having their medallion revoked. Same with driving without a working credit card machine or taking you somewhere you didn’t ask to go.
Taxis are regulated. Meanwhile the quality of the rideshares has gone way down and are worse than taxis now

Sure, in the same what that a truck tipping over can expose how easily out highway system can be shut down. In the end you can only engineer a system to be safe in so many circumstances and you have to rely on people not being idiots. Sadly construction workers causing damage seems to be an escalating issue, hopefully they’ll be held accountable for the damage.

This fire was apparently caused by a construction vehicle hitting a power line, not SEPTAs fault.

Freeze/thaw cycles can damage stone if there’s water, since it’s the expansion of the ice that caused the damage (same thing that causes potholes). I think in this case it’s more likely that cold just makes metal brittle and more likely to crack (as noted in the article).

Yeah dude, your response to criticism of the amount of luxury housing being built is to suggest that the alternative is to build no housing at all. Or that if developers aren’t building luxury housing they’re going to lose money on a project
