So why would we be proud about being cheap and talking about how great it is online? It's like living on the north side and bragging about how much platinum is in your catalytic converter.

If people from high cost of living areas move here because it's cheap, it won't be cheap anymore. Us locals don't have the advantages of starting off from somewhere with higher wages and can be priced out if it becomes a trend.

They don't seem annoyed and disinterested, they are annoyed and disinterested. Many of their jobs are miserable, unfulfilling and don't pay enough to cover living wages.

I've been shopping at the Walmarts on Kearney and Kansas my entire life and have never seen anything violent happen. I think the stereotype comes from south-siders that are too scared to interact with the poors.
