Reply to The trials of the Cuban revolution. Interesting facts about them as well as the roles of Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, Che Guevara and the historical forces that drove these events. by Anglicanpolitics123
A good read, thanks!
Accounts of Che Guevara's 5-month tenure as commander of La CabaƱa prison seem to paint him as either; A blood-crazed maniac who enjoyed personally overseeing the executions, on the one hand, or as someone who approved almost all the appeals which he was able to.
Like most things, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Reply to What was life in the Balkan Front during ww1 like? by BattleofPlatea
The initial 1914 Austro-Hungarian disastrous offensive into Serbia is exciting to read about.
I'm struggling to think of a more extreme case of one belligerent beginning an offensive with such a sense of overwhelming sense of superiority and confidence, before going on to suffer such a lopsided disastrous campaign.
