This is, in my opinion, a wise & sane approach.

I'm glad you've already thought about consulting the veterinarian. Involving a professional who is familiar with the dynamic between your client & their cat is the best possible move.

You're a peach, OP. The world needs more folks like you in it. Please let us know how everything pans out!

I can't recommend a cat groomer, but I do strongly suggest talking to both your neighbor & her veterinarian about a light sedative for the cat's grooming. It's not a panacea, but I do think it would go a long way in preventing a trauma response in the cat.

"... flashback to Vietnam" is too real.

I pet-sat for a lady that had 2 obedience/agility Aussies- one she'd had for several years, and one that was only about 18 months old.

The puppy targeted every car that drove by, and wouldn't move on until it was out of sight.

Walks were... interesting.

And there it is: Beagles gonna beagle.

I've never owned one, as they're a bit too "talkative" for me, but I've met several. I grew up with labs & German shepherds, then worked at horse barns with foxhound, Australian shepherds, and one Pharaoh hound. Those hunting breeds are no joke, no matter how much of a couch warmer they are at home.

I can't pet the K9 puppies deployed around my work building.

In related news: anyone know what's going on on Freedom Plaza this morning? There's half a dozen motorcycle cops chilling on Pennsylvania Ave on either side, and maybe 2 dozen folks on the plaza itself, including someone with what appears to be a tuba?

Never a dull day in the District!

He & my brother are friends, which is how I heard about him in the first place.

Bourbon is outstanding (as I'd expect a 4 Seasons restaurant to be) but I'm glad I got to try Hazel before it closed. The flavors really were spectacular.
