Here's the deal with picky eaters. She'll never like any pizza other than the pizza you bought her that one time.

There's no such thing as a wild chicken except for in Asia where they originated. Chickens were introduced to the world from Asia. They are considered feral chickens. I've never seen a feral chicken in 48 years. I've only seen a farm chicken running that escaped from his coop and lived at my kids' school for a few years until it died.

Where did I say they wouldn't exist outside zoos? I said the only place we'd see them was in a zoo. Because they'd be so rare in the wild that you'd have to go to a zoo to see them. The only place I've ever seen a giraffe or an elephant or a lion or a tiger or a bear is in a zoo but they still exist outside zoos.

I bought one for the Xbox 360 also. Used the hell out of it too. I got a bunch or movies for free when they were pushing HD-DVD. Picked up a bunch more on clearance when the discontinued it. I do have a PS3 which has blu-ray but I've only ever used it for games.
I do own several movies in blu-ray but I bought them for $3 to $4 at walmart for the digital copy only. Way cheaper than buying digital copies.
I have trouble keeping up with all the shows I'm watching on streaming services. Tried keeping a spreadsheet but after adding like 200 shows to the list, I gave up.

Never went blu-ray. HD-DVD is the future.

Reply to TIFU by telling my young daughter that she had a feral sister who lived in a cage in the attic. by jesseberdinka
I still tell my kids they have and older brother and sister who misbehaved all the time like they so they now live locked in a cavern in the basement. I tell them, "Keep up the bad attitude and I'll send you to live in the basement with your brother and sister!"
The funny thing is they are 17 and 19 and I get the feeling that they still somewhat think that I'm not joking.

I did this once as well. I caught the mistake after I had done 4 sq ft. Pulled them off and did them with the tile adhesive.

You can only try to mitigate cracking using schluter ditra. I've had to warranty cracked tiles laid over schluter ditra on numerous occasions. We no longer install any tiles over a concrete substrate even with ditra.
KRed75 t1_iybsid4 wrote
Concrete cracks. It's what it does.
You can fill the cracks with epoxy or self leveling polyurethane caulk if it makes you feel better.
One thing I highly recommend you don't do it install tile. No matter what you do, the tiles will also crack eventually.
KRed75 t1_ix1fck4 wrote
I once pulled up a tile in our data center and there was 2" of water on the floor. I don't know how long it was like that but it didn't cause a single outage. I located the broken pipe under the raised floor, installed a patch and grabbed the sump pump. Ran a hose outside and started pumping water.
We kept the patches, sump pumps and hoses specifically for a situation like this.
Nobody ever said a word about it to me or anyone else which is surprising because we had thousands of servers for hundreds of customers all over the world in that data center. Now we only have dozens of servers with shitloads of RAM and CPU cores running virtualization software to handle about 10 times the number of customers. I haven't been in the data center in 15 years. We used to have hundreds of people in that building. Now it's only about 20. We walk them through handling hardware installations, removals and repairs and we do everything else remotely.

Reply to Ok to run dryer pipe through 2x6 studs? by the_other_sam
For an exterior or load bearing wall, I believe you can do 60% of the width if you double up the stud so you could do a 3.3" diameter hole with the edge of the hole no more than 5/8" for each side. Otherwise it's 40%. This is what I remember from the International Building Code when I studied for the contractor's exam.
If it was me, I'd do it in my house if it was only a stud or two.

Guns can easily be made to fire bullets without the case. I made bullets out of lead when I was 8 at a civil war museum. Cartridge ammunition just made things standardized and much easier to fire and reload a weapon.

Even if you could wipe all existing firearms off the face of the earth and made it illegal to manufacture firearms, you cannot stop people from illegally making firearms. They are very simple devices and very easy to manufacture. There's nothing stopping criminals and criminal organizations from illegally manufacturing firearms and ammunition in large quantities. Law abiding citizens would have no equal defensive tools.

Reply to Any ideas on how to properly conceal this door frame in main living room hallway? by letsstumphannah
Get some drywall compound and drywall tape. Apply some drywall compound as to cover both 2xs and some of the wall next to it. Apply 2 strips of drywall tape to cover both joints and remove the excess with a taping knife. Let dry for a day or two. Apply another coat of drywall compound to smooth things out. Sand and paint.
The reason you're applying the drywall tape is because the joints will crack and be visible through the paint. The tape stops this from happening.
Or you can just apply drywall compound, sand and paint. However it will probably crack in the joints.

Reply to Owe almost 10k in federal income taxes? by [deleted]
You'd have to be making $120K and single with no dependent children with only the standard deduction to be paying $20K in federal taxes. Or $160K and married with no dependent children with only the standard deduction to be paying $20K in federal taxes.
If you are making significantly less than this than something is off with your calculations.
If you are making around that much, it's time to get married and have a couple of kids! Kidding of course but it does significantly lower your tax liability.
At $120K gross, married filing jointly with 2 kids and tax credits associated with them, pre-tax deductions such as healthcare and 401K you can get your federal tax liability down to under $2000.
