It's a pretty common way to animate breathing in pixel art. Because the resolution is so low, one pixel distance looks like a lot of movement

Thank you! Credit to that guy though he has a fantastic eye for scenes and moods, there's quite a bit of artistry in knowing which footage to feed into that filter plus a lot of tweaks like colour correction, snow etc that make them special

This was inspired by a westfalia camper van, they were modified vw kombis that had these raisable roofs to allow for more living space inside
