I disagree. In the late 90s, she was being prepped up as the ACTRESS of her generation.

I barely think of Tim Hutton, who won for Supporting (weird since he's pretty much the main lead), but Mary Tyler Moore was astounding. She and Donald Sutherland who was unfairly snubbed.

I thought Naomi Watts in MULHOLLAND DRIVE was a interesting twist in that I thought she was terrible for most of it until I get to the last 15 minutes and everything changes and I had to revisit the movie and it changed my take on Watts, given the context, and I thought it was a brilliant performance but that only worked because of how the movie ended.

It's a very cold movie. Not that it matters but I found the absence of background music a problem, even if done purposefully.

I remember watching the movie and thinking what was so special about Kim Basinger in it. At the time, critics raved about her performance. I saw nothing that warrented that. I thought Russell Crowe was the standout in that.

And she was pretty good on that show, reminded me of Stephanie Zimbalist. But she kept getting downgraded. In the Pilot TV Movie, she was a co-lead, then a supporting character and then an extended cameo.

Those two were such a mistake they were killed off quicker than a sandstorm. Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were also fired but because of the vehicle accident they were involved in.

Season 1-3 was PERFECT. Season 4 was hit and miss. Season 5 was unwatchable.

The twist involving Sarah Polley in THE SWEET HEREAFTER shocked me to death. We see her with her "boyfriend" making out, all normal, until it's revealed her "boyfriend" is her father. My jaw was on the floor.

The Paris season was pretty good. No annoying sidekick, it was just Duncan adjusting to a new life.

I remember and I was disgusted by it. Or when Duncan kills a Holocaust victim because he wanted to protect a Nazi sympathizer.

That's the thing I didn't get because Amanda was a terrible fighter. She could barely use a sword and lost nearly every fight she had. She only survived because she was smart or she had someone to protect her.
What I heard was that originally they were going to use another female highlander, the one Duncan fought and put up a good fight, but she was such a bad actress that they decided to use Elizabeth Gracen, who, was a fan fave, so they then made her a recurring character.

The thing is, Culea's Amy was a good character. She wasn't too big to overshadow the boys but was a nice counterpoint to them. It does seem like she wanted to do more and that became an issue butI do feel the show missed out by letting her go. She reminded me of Stephanie Zimbalist from Remington Steele.

Cate Blanchett should have won. Paltrow wasn't even convincing as a boy and it was hardly a challenging part, she just had to play a lovely princess who talks with a fake accent.
