Water tests are typically performed no charge at various places in the hopes of selling you a water purification system. Lowes I think does this also.

I am sure the story that leads to this eviction would shed a bit more light on the story. Its not the tenant but some other person is the first sign of trouble. I bet they had been in the RI eviction process and she found out that even though she had not rented to this person, he was now her tenant and had more rights than she had. I have been a landlord in RI, and never again.

Screw it. Hire the most expensive guy you can and make sure he covers every roof you have with solar panels. Good luck.

So start by reporting them to housing and state this is not your first issue. Document it. Don't worry about eviction as its nearly impossible in your case. A stove when I was a landlord I would need to replace within 24 hours. I could put in a temporary until the good one arrived, but a stove had to be there and usable.

I have AC, my bill never goes over $130 a month. I even try to heat with the mini splits, but my bill never seems to go up.

So lets talk about your knowledgeable solar guy. Rebates and paperwork to file them are easily found online. Besides his sales pitch what else does he know? Is he a roofer? Doubtful. Is he an electrical engineer. Doubtful. Has he spent any time besides company training on solar energy. Doubtful. Does he have a product you could buy online for a third the cost and have installed yourself? Yes he does. If you hire an actual roofer and electrician they are going to do some wild things for you. Discuss your roof at length and its issues. The electrician is probably going to hide those conduits as he wants the job to look professional.

The point is, if a guy showed up and said he he wanted to sell you a windmill he doesn't build and charge you three times the cost for it to look like hell would you hire him?

Reddit as a whole has this problem. Its an echo chamber for weak minds. How many times a week do you see "control the means of production" or "landlords evil" statements. You really can't have a discussion on most topics here as the people are incapable. They will even inject their political thoughts into non political statements for some reason. And their behavior reflects who they really are as people.

First off, why? Do you own an electric car? If not your bill should be less than $200 a month making solar pointless. Also why do you feel you need to hire a company? Some basic research on your own and you can contract out the job yourself for a massive savings.

Lol, holy shit. Zero rights for RI tenants has to be the biggest falsehood on Reddit this week. I won't own rentals in RI due to how screwball this state is so, Yes you have rights. Literally the entire state government is on your side. They are out of state? Do they have a landlord license? Your landlord might not even have standing in court. File a grievance with one of the housing agencies they will jump on these poor bastards for you. Don't pay your rent till its fixed, its not like the landlord can do anything about it. Take you to court? Why the hell would he do that, thats just long form losing.

I do not believe an inspector will allow this. It relies a bit on the other tenant and you also have the issue of the unlocked door even with the alarm. Also remember your town fire chief and inspector have power. Attleboro's requirements involve a separate stairway to the 2nd floor with landings.

This is like the 80's version of looking for a used car. Buy the panels yourself. Do you own research and hire reputable contractors and electricians. Don't end up with an overpriced mess on your roof because somebody sold it to you.

Get a solid SEER rating, but always understand how they work and their efficiency due to outside temperature. The heat pumps work excellent right up until it drops below 40. They are still usable but draw more electricity until about 5 degrees where most give up. Also understand the BTU ratings. If it takes a 100k BTU heating system to heat your house you will still need 100k BTU's to heat your house so a 30k unit will not get the job done especially seeing most only give 80% when used for heat.

I have a Gree 30kBTU with two units, an 18 and a 12. I bought it due to being on the Mass Rebate list due to Seer rating. Down to about 40 degrees outside I use it almost exclusively. Below that is where the efficiency starts to dive and I have a Navien for heat so I switch to that with Nat gas. My electric bill has not been higher than $120. My gas bill has not been higher than $230 and includes hot water and stove.
