In what situation does Stand Your Ground even apply?

Even as a Duty to Retreat state, if someone threatens you with a weapon (knife, gun, bat, etc.) or attempts to physically attack you, you are already justified to defend yourself with deadly force here.

Pick up a small cooler, then get Frozen Crabcakes from Koko's and Ice cream from Taharka Brothers. Add some local beer if you want to complete the meal.

Cars are occassionally not immaculate, particularly in the winter when there are some homeless riding around just to stay warm. But they're usually cleaner than DC's. The most common annoyance is the amount of people who smoke cigarettes while in the cars.

Stations on the other hand are spotless, and they feature some nice art installations or murals.

I commute with the Metro at least 3 days a week, I think it's a couple of things:

  • Fewer people paying for tickets due to the App (there's pretty much always a gate open, and there's not always an attendant, so it becomes a challenge to even prove that you're a rider that day). This is especially true for Student passes, their tickets are already paid for so there's no reason to even attempt to show the attendant, just go through the open gate. Daily ticketing on the app is really just awful btw, if you use the metro, get a Charm Card and ignore the app.

  • Better Bus routes have made some of the metro transfers obsolete

  • More people working from home so there are less people commuting to T-Rowe/Hopkins Hospital

  • The number of Bus Bridges, Single Tracking Days, Brake Fires, etc. is insane. It's a toss-up when trains will leave, and how long the ride will be. It can be anywhere from 28 minutes to 1:20 end to end. I have a flexible job so it doesn't matter when I get in, but if you are on a strict schedule, I don't see how the Metro is a viable option.

Another pet peeve: Why don't the underground stations have 5g (or any service) towers yet? If I'm waiting an extra 10 minutes for a delayed train, it would be nice to check some emails or browse reddit or something.

Hmm, that's crazy to me, I don't know of anyone who uses the official Reddit app. It was an absolutely horrible experience up until like ~2016.

That doesn't specify they're using the 'Official' app.

No adds on Sync, and on desktop ublock origin takes care of them.

Patterson Perk was also getting robbed like once a month leading up to them closing. It was at least 4 or 5 times, but I want to say it was more, Bmore Licks and them both went cashless because of it.

On another note, I live very close to them, and would usually walk much further for better coffee and food.

I can't speak to their prices for dogs, but I was extremely impressed by the prices at You'll Never Walk Alone in the Can Company in Canton.

I took a cat in for urinary issues, the treatment was less than half of what I had expected from Eastern Animal Hospital.

And I had to get into work so they boarded the cat for 10 hours in order to collect a urine sample, and bathed him before I picked him up, and charged $20 for that service.

>The Roland Ave project could have been, and should have been the standard to follow.

We do have a standard to follow, Roland Ave is not it. Best practices for this configuration (Bike lane/parking lane/travel lane) puts the parking between the bikes and the cars, then brings the bike lane adjacent to the travel lane prior to any intersection where vehicles could turn toward the cyclists.

>The sign that says it’s the law to stop for pedestrians the sits in the middle of the road works for me every time on eastern.

As someone who walks a bike across Eastern in a crosswalk with one of those signs twice a day, you are a minority. The Boston Street crosswalks with those signs are even less effective than Eastern's.

>Painting a cross walk green and stoping the use of that sign is mental.

Roland Ave also has green paint, it's pretty universal for bike lanes. Until majority of drivers develop some awareness, it helps trigger them to into "that's not normal, maybe I should pay attention".

>Also… Rapid transit development? The project took six years!! To paint a fucking bike lane on the road?!?

The project was a mess to begin with, welcome to the world of design-build. However, it was a full streetscape, along with significant utility work and a stormwater system that carries a full stream.
