Probably everything is sold out that weekend for the race. (I’ve done it 11 times!) You might want to look at the Aspire in Quechee. Lots of rooms, it seems pretty nice, and it’s close to the finish.

I was in SoRo in the fall and walked by. There were a bunch of people in there doing an open mic or something but it didn’t seem like they were eating.

Foxes, maybe? They make a scream-bark noise sometimes and it’s really unsettling.

We have a very good VA in White River, which would likely be important - perhaps moreso than Dartmouth.

Yep. I like to get my eggs from a neighbor for lots of reasons, mostly because I like my neighbor and those chickens. Kind of a bonus that they’re cheaper.

Nope. It’s across the street in the corner storefront that’s been periodically empty over the years.

A lot of people mentioned the Valentine storm from several years ago. That was a fun snowstorm. It was fluffy snow and it was fun to play in!
Conversely, I drove through the worst snowstorm on record in Erie, PA a few years ago, trying to get back to Vermont. It snowed something like 5 feet in 2 hours. Absolutely not recommended.

Fren, I too am from the Great Lakes Midwest, and I will tell you, Great Lakes Midwest cold does not prepare you for vermont cold. You are welcome to visit and find out.

I buy a pair or two every year. They’re expensive but they hold up so well I don’t mind. I used to buy Smartwool socks but they don’t seem to last as well as Darn Tough.

Someone once told me the only way to make friends in vermont is to have kids, since you’ll end up doing a lot of socializing through elementary school events. I was like, isn’t having kids kind of a big life decision on the off chance I might be friends with some parents in 6 years? Blank stare in response.

The Woodstock Inn has falconry! They have the birds just outside the village. I think you can go there and see/do it. I also know of a few falconers in Orange County, but they’re private citizens who have falcons.

I break bird feeders so I just put seed on the ground. My back yard has become bird central. But - I have a small yard and usually 2-3 handfuls/day do the trick. I do this year-round.

OOPS! The Align Inn. Sorry bout that - it just changed names and I knew it was an A word - I just wrote the wrong word. Used to be the Quality Inn Quechee but it may be under new mgt or something now.
