Most things in life a comparison metric we can rely on. On a near equal footing, if you wanted an air filter, we have metrics for those so one might compare functionality. HEPA is the gold standard and its also known as PM 2.5. Want something better? There are PM 1 filters which remove even more from the air. And I'm sure there's something in-between or maybe even better than PM 1.
There is nothing like the above with water filters. There is no standard. You can buy a water filter at Dollar General, one from Brita at Walmart or an under sink system from your cousin Terry who is hawking the latest Multi Level Marketing water purifier and you have no way of knowing which is doing a better job. Why? There's no rating system like air cleaners. Air cleaners are rated on Particulate Matter (PM) containment. Water cleaners are based on nothing.
Now here is where, again, I'm going to say: If what I have said is wrong, please someone prove me wrong. I'm hoping someone comes off the top rope and puts me in my place with a knowledge drop.

Why do you have to be so dramatical and call non-stick "poisonous garbage"? 19 people died from lightning last year in the US. 0 people in the history of the planet have died from non-stick flakes as they are chemically inert. Use what you got as you could snort a line of PTFE 20 miles long and nothing would happen. Now there is such as thing as irrational fear and if that's what ya got, I understand.

You need to open the aperture on this issue.
You seems to fixated on the cost. You get what you pay for with rugs. Long life = Long price. When you amortize the cost, wool is cheaper.
An issue you are missing is style. That fancy vintage kilim rug from Iran that you find on sale that really ties the room together? In 5 years, you can/will realize it looks like hot death now as your style has changed.
An issue you are missing is use case. Dogs. I love them. I have three. I have four rugs downstairs. All made by who gives a shit of I don't fucking care material. Why? Dogs will shit and piss and puke everywhere for no reason as that's what they do. I attack every stain with the finest carpet cleaning fluid on the planet in the finest spray bottle on the planet. One complete unit upstairs and one down. Its the perfect stain system. And while the stains are gone, some rug colors/materials/patterns just can't be saved. To fix this you'd have to research if there is a rug cleaner in your area...have you seen how much it is to clean a rug from a professional (and not stanley steamer in your driveway)?
So I got a bunch of janky rugs as my critters would work against nice and the Mrs's style changes work against nice. These are the points of consideration for you.

The holistic answer to your question is there is no answer. There are no metrics of comparison with linen. There are no types of linen. Thread count doesn't mean shit. Brand name doesn't mean shit save for possible warranty claims. So here are your options:
- Wash them less. Hand wash them. Air dry them.
- Find a vendor with a lifetime warranty. One example: https://mellanni.com/collections/shop-all/products/100-flax-linen-bed-sheet-set

I'm going to say some words you don't want to hear. You are gonna call me a fucker and wish me dead, but this is the truth as we've discussed this topic here 93,485 times and I've been down the rabbit hole.
We, as common humans, have no metric of comparison for water filtration that is worth a damn, so pick the one that matches your budget.
And if someone has data to show I'm wrong, this is your chance to prove someone wrong on the internet. Please prove me wrong! Make me cry and wish I was never born.

- We have no budget, $10,000 hiking boots are a thing.
- We have no use case. Hiking means everything from walking a paved decommissioned railroad to summiting Mt. Everest. Define hiking to include the climate.
- What are your expectations? "A few years ago" means many things to many people. Do you have a cobbler in your area or know about interent cobblers who can recraft hiking boots?

Muncie4 t1_j9dfcb4 wrote
Red Wing is a brand. You do NOT buy a pair of Red Wing boots and assume they are BIFL as that's not how that works. They make a mix of $50 shitty boots and $500 BIFL boots, so by choosing the brand name alone is a sure way to waste money.
Everything at Nick's is BIFL, but you are going to pay for it.
And nobody here can help you on this topic as you are conclusion shopping. If you are a hipster who wants cool boots for street cred, there are other options. Replace hipster with molder, logger, hiker and other terms and more options appear.

People don't magically know what the 512 cut is so for those playing the home game, it is slim tapered. Durable jeans start with weight and you want the heaviest jeans you can find/afford in that cut. Will they be the same as 512? No. Each maker has a unique cut and you can try on 32 pair of slip tapered jeans by 32 makers and get a different feeling from each. https://bravestarselvage.com/products/the-slim-taper-21-5oz-heavyweight-japan-selvage-denim is one option.

Reply to One kitchen knife, that’s it. by tactical_tree_troll
Your question is both good and bad. The real bad part of it is price and feel. $10,000 knives are a thing. And some $10,000 knives you won't like the feel of as some have an aversion to say round or hexagon shaped handles. The best idea is to go to a great knife store like a local kitchen supply or Williams Sonoma and test drive them live. Once you try a MAC chef's knife and like it, run it though the search engine and see what BIFL thinks of it.
The cheap king is a Victorinox 8" chef knife from amazon.

- This is not a BIFL question as the run time on these devices is maybe 5 years.
- Every tracker can be used with a wallet, so if you are looking for a tracker, pick one.
- I wanted one 2 years back and went to 839 websites and 57 youtube channels and the clear winner was the Samsung SmartThings Tracker, which is around my dog's neck and other than 2 battery changes is fine even after daily attacks by my other dog. And by clear winner, I mean most likely to always provide location based on various sources of internet access. Maybe there's a new leader today though.

This is not a thing in BIFL. You want it to be. We get that. But it is not a thing.
If you want a small capacity, top loader, heavy duty machine, then any of the Speed Queens or the Maytag 575 will do you. Sadly, many asshats here are giving you blanket advice, I am not. There are no known BIFL large capacity top loaders.

You can get some. Or don't. There are 987 websites that sell them. There are also 823 websites that will reship items. Then recognize that when you get a hole, you will be assed out. I'd find a lifetime guarantee sock maker in the EU.

You ask Timmy in Lawrence, KS. Timmy is 4'5" and his opinion will skew your decision. You don't know Timmy's height as he didn't state it like you didn't state your height.
You ask Sally in Chula Vista, Ca. Sally weighs 586lbs and her opinion will skew your decision. You don't know Sally's weight as she didn't state it like you didn't state your weight.
I can go on with the variables and you can go on taking advice from everything but the horse's mouth.

The experience of someone else matters zero. If you have a question, call the horse's mouth as "they didn't fit right" is vague as shit and not one can help you. Respectfully, call the maker and seek the best advice or buy something else.

Reply to BIFL request - visiting USA by wild_biologist
You live in likely the most target rich BIFL footwear country in the world and want to get the bottom tier boots in America? Unless they have a specific type that really speaks to you, pass on them.
And there are 10,000 BIFL things in America and we can't list them. And they'd likely save you $0 vs. buying online. Having traveled the world, I can think of very few things that are cheaper in their home country. Hell....Yankee Candles are cheaper at Target than the factory store attached to the plant where they are made. Shit's maddening.

So its better to ask for sizing help from the internet and not post your height, weight, shoe size, male, female or any other helpful or unhelpful metric and use that advice to purchase socks vice use the company fitment guide?
Please read the above slowly again and answer.

- Visit Red Wing store.
- Get measured and fitted as you likely don't know your real size.
- Ask for boot options that are recraftable and feature the sole that best suits your job and waterproof if needed.
Bonus points for getting 2 identical pair and rotating the every other day.
