Reply to What EDC boots do you recommend? by imzeigen
You cannot ask about comfort online. Ever. Its like asking for your next album purchase, movie to see or person to date....these are personal matters and you make go buy my recommendation and the boots will hurt like hell and/or you are a knucklehead and buy a size 12W when you are a Brannock 13AA.
Durability comes from goodyear welt construction. Ask/look for those words as many "great boots" makers have both goodyear welt boots and disposable boots, so if you don't see the words, keep looking. Examples of who sell both are Red Wing and Timberland.

Reply to Are Von Baer bags worth it? by edgewisefeather663
You are conclusion shopping, let's not do that. If you want advice online, you need to ask the question specifically. Knowing the style helps as we kinda know that based on the website. We have no idea what a multi functional leather bag is, you need to be specific...post a picture maybe. You need to post a budget and don't be coy with it. And remove worth from your brainstem as some think the Rolls Royce Cullinan is a worthy SUV and they aren't wrong from their financial and personal desire viewpoint.

Reply to BIFL Furniture ideas to remember grandma? by dmay73
Why not put that same money into a 529 account and say, "Grandma wanted you to not suffer with student loans as much or at all, here's your 529"? Buying a chair with grandma's money doesn't magically make it grandma's chair. Plus, I could list about 100 chair types/brands which would make your head spin. If you want a chair, get a chair, but a 529 account is more practical than a chair with no physical attachment to Grandma other than using inheritance money to purchase it. This post is practical and not emotional or mean.

Reply to Newly purchased home. In your opinion, which Winix air purifier model is the overall best? by [deleted]
You are conclusion shopping, let's not do that.
Zero people on the planet can tell you anything as you buy purifiers based on the square footage served. You aren't purifying your living room, you are purifying every room in the house with an unopened door next to the living room to include going up and down the stairs. And if you are doing your bedroom, you must keep the door shut or the bedroom unit becomes a whole house purifier.
So, you need to state how many you are wanting and how many square feet the spaces are.
AustinAir is the BIFL brand.
Muncie4 t1_jcipv8i wrote
You are discounting other options, let's not do that. You can get a microwave...they are all rather BIFL by nature so pick one and buy it. They make toaster ovens in 894 different flavors and sizes that bake, toast, broil, air fry, etc., that can be used alongside a microwave. With a convection microwave you get two things: Microwave and oven. With a microwave and say a Ninja FT301, you get 12 appliances.

The opinions of others with All Clad and nonstick pan warranty claims bears no role in your experience now or in the future, so asking is wasting everyone's time. And I mean this respectfully and nicely. Nonstick pans do fail and if you got 3 years out of this one, you are doing good and should be happy to get that life out of it.

Reply to I've been trying to find a specific type of computer chair. Budget will not be a concern by [deleted]
This is a you question and not one for the internet. Search for chairs using the search engine and you will see the brands we recommend. Visit google and find the retailers near you for an in person fit check and barring that, find a retailer with an acceptable return policy. To my knowledge, zero BIFL chair makers have a 6" seat pad, so you are going to have to find an aftermarket one or get a chair and have one custom made at a local uphostery shop.

Reply to Who has a great vacuum by Illustrious-Look2875
You are assuming that a cordless vacuum is the best form factor for cleaning, which is entirely false. You are wanting the best of the worst form factors, so know this up front. If this is you, then you need not ask here as you aren't asking about lifespan which is this sub's charter, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwtEU6OEdOU and get what you see there.

Reply to Any recommendations on Dust removers or air purifiers for an all office space or dorm? by Fallout_Lord
Metric 0 of air device purchase is the square footage of the room being served. If you are using it in one room WITH THE DOOR CLOSED, then you measure the room and provide the square footage. If you are using it in an open door area, you need one that can cover the entire area....so if its in the living room and you have a 2500sq ft house with all the doors open you need a 2500sq ft capable unit.
https://austinair.com/ is the king, but you have to buy the right size and/or buy a couple to make up the right size.

You are asking an ignorant question which will lead you down the wrong path. And I'm using ignorant dictionarily, so don't get butthurt.
- You purchase vacuums based on use case. Your small carpeted needs differ from your small tile needs. Notice there is no mention of battery here?
- Best. Cordless vacuums are the worst vacuums compared to corded ones, so asking for the best is asking for the best of the worst.
- Best. We have no idea what this means. Best battery life. Best suction. Best to empty. Best capacity. There are many bests.
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwtEU6OEdOU and the other videos are the source for "best" as this sub is about lifespan. Cordless vacuums are relatively new, so there is no frontline winner regarding lifespan that is spoken of on this sub with any degree of consensus.

You do not need special stuff for quality leather shoe care.
- 2 Gallon size plastic ziploc bags (Sharpie one black and one other)
- 2 horsehair buffing brushes
- 2 horsehair daubers AKA polish application brushes
- 1 container of edge dressing
- 2 cans of polish (Kiwi Black and Kiwi Neutral)
- A bunch of buffing cloths (honker pack of microfibers)
You can get all the above from eBay for crazy cheap. Make you a black shoe kit and a brown shoe kit. You can use neutral shoe polish on every flavor of brown shoe as there are 934,893 shades of brown shoes and 63,214 shade of brown shoe polish and they odds of you getting a match are near zero. You can even skip the daubers and use old tooth brushes or sacrificial cloths. Don't mix up the kits as you don't want to blacken up your brown shoes. You polish your shoes every 3-6 months and perhaps buff when you see them getting dull. Youtube has an infinity of videos on how to do it.
Cobblers are a thing. You can take your shoes there and say, "Make deez good". Return in 1-5 days and for $20 and zero effort, you have nicely cleaned and polished shoes.
Anything you apply to make your shoes waterproof is a lie. Shoes are natively waterproof based on construction/materials, not some goo you rub/spray on. If you want waterproof shoes, but them out the gate that way.
You can wear for days in a row. Allowing them to rest is smart and will increase the lifespan and split toe shoe trees will help keep the shape when not worn. Rest is best practice, not a requirement.
GYW shoes can last your literal lifetime. I have two pair from the 80s. The real sweet spot is around $300 pricepoint for men. Anything less is lower tier. There is no such thing as break even point as that talks to your desires and budget and we know neither.

Reply to Is there any hard evidence (not anecdotal) that "high quality" clothes actually last longer than their cheap counterparts? by bingworm
Your question lacks depth so there is no answer for you. Clothes. Tuxedos? Silk pajamas? Socks? Platform heels? All have unique use cases and metrics. What is high quality? That means many things to many people....to some this is based in Brand Name, cost or style, of which we don't know.

Your question has no answer, so you are going to get a spiral of advice without help. USB, cigarette, USB-C are the inputs. Apple to Samsung to Inductive charging are outputs. There are 10,000 places in 10,000 different vehicles where the inputs, outputs and places to charge your phone vary along with other subtleties like fast charging capacity of your phone vs capacity of the charger.
And you are discounting other options like a portable battery which can be used outside of your car's resources.
I'm sorry but the internet isn't going to help with this question. Buy what is practical for your situation and run with it.

Reply to Thursday Boots - Worth It? by Cimon_40
We have no idea as worth is a metric comprised of exposing your financial records to the internet + exposing your emotions on this matter to the internet. I just spent $1000 on used seats for my 20 year old car....worth it? If you want to see my tax records and have an hour long conversation, I'll gladly share if you message me.
Any boots that can be recrafted are BIFL as that's the standard. Most Thursday offerings meet this.
Worth is a YOU question.

- Budget. Balenciaga shoes are pricey and some are OK with $1000 sneakers, some not.
