Let me guess. You were okay with S4 til the last 5 minutes. That seems to be where most people hate it.

Jessica Jones S1
Brutally dark and uncompromising in how it deals with rape trauma and PTSD. Also an amazing performance by David Tennnant who makes Killgrave (the villain) somewhat likable and sympathetic even though he is utterly narcissistic and evil.

Reply to Where's the new Prog Rock? by Comfortable-File3245
Have you tried Dream Theater? They are prog metal and have been putting out albums for 30 years now.
How about Nightwish? They are symphonic metal but many of their songs could also be classified as prog rock given the time changes and stylistic changes within the song. This song I'll link an amazing live version that makes you think your at a classical music opera for the first 1:20 or so and then the metal kicks in. Over its 14 minutes it hits multiple genres. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N4Vfy5yCy-c

I've read the vast majority of his stuff and this is definitely on the lower end for me.

If you do and keep going there is a spinoff called Corpies that occurs concurrently with year 3. While it's not essential a lot of the characters from it show up in year 4 which makes year 4 very spoilerish. Plus a scene toward the end of book 4 that will seem very weird and random without Corpies but will make you want to yell Hell Yeah if you've read Corpies.

Superpowereds by Drew Hayes
It's like Harry Potter but with superheroes and a little more mature as everyone is college age when you meet them.

The first book is the first novel he ever wrote way back when he was in college. Most authors first few novels go into a trunk never to be seen again. So it's pretty remarkable its any good at all. The series does pick up a lot around book 3 or 4 which is where you can tell Butcher has really figured out his craft and what he wants the characters to be.

Killgrave in Jessica Jones. You realize he is a complete sociopath but you also empathize with him a bit when you learn how he grew up and why he became the way he is.
