If you stay away from Oak Harbor, that is!

Actually, they’re only about 20 minutes apart if traffic is light.
(Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

These data would be more beautiful (especially for folks with color vision deficits, like me) if the categories in the legend were in the same order as the bar segments in the chart.

That’s a relief! They were looking much too bare this summer!

I’ve seen a step-by-step guide to washing your hands in Braille.

No, both species knuckle-walk with the hands curled and the middle bones of the fingers on the ground. Chimps knuckle-walk with their wrists bent, but gorillas knuckle-walk with their wrists straight.

We don’t seem to have gone through a knuckle-walking stage (the ancestors of gorillas, chimps, and humans became terrestrial independently of one another), so our clavicles never had to support much body weight.

Extend the wrist = bend the back of your hand toward the back of your forearm.
Flex the wrist = bend the palm of your hand toward the underside of your forearm.

Interesting. I was on Vashon last weekend, and there were moon jellies washed up all over the beach we were on. Don’t really remember seeing that before.

Misleading headline: only the possible Thurston County location is really in what I’d call “southwest” Washington.
Also under consideration are two Pierce County sites, and expanding service at existing regional airports like Paine Field and Olympia is still on the table, too.

We’ve got communities with large numbers of Russian and Ukrainian speakers, but those aren’t covered under Section 203, nor are African languages like Amharic and Somali.

Basically, yes. Filipino is a standardized language based primarily on the Manila dialect of Tagalog.

Depends. King County, WA, produces separate ballots in Chinese and Vietnamese, but Adams, Franklin, and Yakima Counties produce a single bilingual ballot in English and Spanish.

At least on the west side of the mountains, the smoke didn’t get really bad this year until very late in the summer and into fall.
