I sometimes wonder if our corporate masters realize how much Americans value eating out. Our social safety and services may be gutted, none of us can afford to buy a house, and we’ll all be bankrupted by a single bad medical bill, but damnit, we can all ignore that if we can go stuff our faces on cheap reheated SYSCO crap at the local restaurant of choice.

If people start getting priced out of being able to eat out, people might start getting legitimately angry at the state of things.

Seems like getting an actual local coffee shop in the airport is a good first step in making RIC feel like you’re actually arriving in Richmond.

The current crop of Applebee’s, Caribou Coffee, Sam Adams Brewhouse, and Cheeburger Cheeburger is the most generic collection of restaurants imaginable. I’d love to see a local brewery or two open up a tasting area (Hardywood? Ardent?) and maybe a local restaurant setting up shop too. Get a King of Pops kiosk set up in the terminals too and now we’re talking.

I just wonder what fucked this guy up enough that he spends what seems like his every waking minute going around town and standing in the elements to troll with a vulgar sign.

And he does all of this for Joe Biden, an incredibly bland and low-energy President who even most Democrats can’t find the energy to get excited about. Just pathetic loser vibes to this guy.

I always get a sensible chuckle when they talk about how the city is a war zone filled with roving gangs.

Like, how do these people get through life when they think anything “edgier” than going to Cheesecake Factory in Short Pump is inherently dangerous?

Whatever makes you feel better about the hypocrisy, I suppose. I don’t see why someone with legitimate curiosity and questions about our city (even if they are common) is “spam” but all the aforementioned memes that have been run into the ground and don’t spark any real conversation or debate is totally OK.

For the record, I’ve been out of the dating pool/bar scene for a while now, so I didn’t feel knowledgeable enough to answer OP’s questions. Just trying to make people feel welcome when a bunch of posters are being snarky for no good reason 🤷‍♂️

Welcome to r/RVA where we get angry at people with legit questions about moving here for “spamming” the sub, but we upvote any low-quality shitpost with opossums, chicken wings on the street, or the 7291st photo of a cat that lives in Lowe’s.

We hope you enjoy your stay and consider us for your next home :)
