I think the DMV has a ânativeâ population loosely defined as people born in the area still living there around 30 - 40%. This is on the low end nationally for large metros. It pales in comparison to more âtownieâ spots in up state New York or the Midwest for instance, but is lower nationally than most other big cities, approaching Florida levels. Though there may be some noise in the data because it defined if youâre living in the state you were born in, so if someone is born in VA and moved to MD it may be counting that as a transplant, but hard to tell from the data:

$25 both ways - $50 transport
$50 - 70 a night in a hostel - $100 - $150
5 or 6 meals - varies widely but letâs say an average of $10, now youâre at $50
Transport - $20 for subway rides
One Random cab or Uber spending on where youâre going and when - $25
Just the basics around $250 - 300, but since itâs New York one may be tempted to spend on random stuff to bring home

The only answer based on info youâve provided is New York.
Take the cheap ass bolt bus. Get a dorm bed in a hostel. Just fucking wander around and people watch and eat cheap pizza, falafel, pierogi. Donât even need to do any tourist stuff besides Times Square (go late night, itâs always worth it somehow even just for 5 min.) Central Park, Washington square park, wander around the east village, hit up prospect park, go out to Brighton beach or Coney Island. Hit up some thrift stores. Go to some dive bars or rock shows in Brooklyn.
Can do a budget round trip weekend trip for $500 easy.

The directive from the top has been hands off donât do anything proactive and donât cause any scandals and let the inner city kids kill themselves and we will clean up the blood after.
Thereâs no political will for proactive policing to get guns off the street and lock up criminals with warrants and probation violations before they shoot. Just respond after and send some tweet updates for look outs.
Convicting two cops for 2nd murder after a known gang member fled from a traffic stop is only gonna make the âsit in the car and do nothingâ the norm.
So just shrug and go on about your business because nothing will change.

That was first thought. Brenda Donald has no discernible experience in real estate management. She has a bunch of somewhat gobbledy gook sounding non profit and political appointments, incestuously floating around local DC and MD government for decades. Just outsource this to the private sector that knows how to manage real estate effectively.

Murder rate is probably the best proxy in some regards for overall criminality, at least itâs a very high end, because itâs by far the hardest crime to cover up. As such in the global south murder rate is used as the de facto violent crime rate as other crimes are poorly reported and poorly counted.

Homicide rates per 100,000 (data from 2019 was easiest to find)
San Salvador, El Salvador: 35.3 per 100,000
Mexico City, Mexico: 17.6 per 100,000*
BogotĂĄ, Colombia: 14.3 per 100,000*
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: 10.4 per 100,000*
https://insightcrime.org/news/analysis/2019-homicides-latin-america-capital/
Washington, DC homicide rate per 100,000 (2021): 32.9 per 100,000*
No one claims that Washington DC is the most dangerous city in North America or South America, only that itâs murder rate is on par with âvery dangerous citiesâ like San Salvador, and double bogota and Medellin and DF
