Should we make it illegal for restaurants and businesses to operate on Christian religious holidays? They do that in many countries but I was under the impression America was nonsecular. Times they are a changing

You do actually, if I show up to your open restaurant and pay you money
Why isn’t a Hindu allowed to earn some money today? Bc Christians decide the holidays?
The Chinese Jewish Christmas Day meal is a literal tradition.

Disagree. the relationship bt Chinese restaurants and Jewish patrons is extremely heartwarming. Extending it beyond Chinese to Indian etc would be equally heartwarming

You’re “entitled” to eat as a paying customer wherever is open today bc it’s open and serving food to customers.

I’d rather an Indian restaurant or jewish/Israeli restaurant shut down for holidays that they want to celebrate than to force Christian culture on everyone. Let businesses operate as they want to. Don’t like it, then quit. Open restaurants today are a minority and the demand for restaurant workers is still there so move if it’s not worth it.

If it’s a priority, Work somewhere that doesn’t then. Majority of restaurants are closed. If you’re still there, it’s worth it. But don’t force cultural beliefs on places like Indian restaurants and act like they don’t want the business today.

Indian is a good option too!
Also hotel restaurants are pretty much required to be open but there are a few places that open around 4 or 6 bc Christmas Day is often an earlier holiday

Or go out to a place that’s open and tip well.
Not everybody is Christian

OpenTable/resy are good for this. Restaurants connected to a hotel and steakhouses also generally open
Parc, Kanella, Blue Corn, wooly mammoths, pope (starting at 6)

I’d rent a hotel room and send them the bill.
I wish I could help - my building has no heat/hot water currently and my building is offering to reimburse if we go to the Element on chestnut, I’m not home but can’t think of a good way for you to take my “spot.”
If you go there and your landlord doesn’t reimburse, I’ll send it to mine lol.

I think there are tests that test for all 3 (including an at home test).
When I went to urgent care over a cough, they tested for all 3

You got a flu shot, you’re not taking up an icu bed, it happens. People get sick. It’s hospital occupancy that matters

I have heard some talk about the fact that it just doesn’t have to be this way, in a sense, it’s voluntary for adults and even involuntary for children to be sick in general. We shouldn’t accept that people need to be exposed to these illnesses. Just put masks on, social distancing as a norm, no intimate contact unless in a bubble, and quarantine if you have a cough/cold. And then you don’t need forced upon you antibodies.
If you continue that for your whole life, can’t go wrong.

What are the things you’re seeing most of, since it’s not flu/Covid? RSV? If so, is it primarily children?
If it’s the things mentioned in the article like heart disease, do you think lack of preventative care during Covid etc could be responsible for an uptick? Longer lasting side effects of having Covid starting to show?

I’m confused, if it’s debunked, Why does the article and Covid 19 White House coordinator seem to lend credit to the concept? Or is the concept of non-exposure different from weakened immune system?
>What makes this season unique isn’t the emergence of a new virus but that many are getting sick after not being exposed to flu and RSV in recent years. It’s a concept experts call “immunity debt.”
>This has left the population “more susceptible to a bigger wave of infections,” said Ashish Jha, the White House COVID-19 response coordinator.
>Prior to the pandemic, nearly all kids caught RSV before their second birthday. But after two winters of masking and social distancing to prevent COVID, the cold-like virus has been infecting a population of children who did not build up antibodies in their first years.

Gio’s is great - nice back bar. Slices aren’t anything out of this world but it’s nice to be able to just grab a slice and a drink. Also they have pretty decent Mediterranean food so you can healthy it up which can be a rarity in a divier bar

Oh I 100% disagree. I’m very surprised that people want to combine church and state in that way bc that’s not where my personal beliefs fall. That’s disappointing to hear but I guess not surprising given recent views on abortions and what not. I hope we, as a country, never align with religion in that way. I think the Chinese community and the Jewish community having their own tradition is amazing. I hope diversity only encourages more. Happy holidays.
