I recently read and LOVED Lessons in Chemistry. But the cover was such a turn off I almost didn’t- it looks like an awful chick-lit beach read, and it’s actually an excellent and well written book full of outstanding characters, humor, lots of science and a great plot. I’ve been recommending it to others, but always feel I have to give a warning about the cover and not to judge by it. One of the most egregious graphic design fails I’ve seen I think.

I write everything I’m meant to do in my calendar.
I have a spot where everything goes, and I get a bunch of copies of the important things. The exception is my phone and I have found it In the fridge Under my dryer In the closet On top of the microwave On every tool shelf in the basement In the ice maker… Anyway, choose a spot for things for real & use the spot. Put even the most mundane things like garbage day on your calendar so you don’t forget

I have weirdly a gratitude journal someone gave me in my 20s that I never used. I realized each page is divided into 3 little sections with a heading an a date so I write title & date and then do a little summary. I’ve been doing it about 3 years and the act of writing about the books feels cathartic for me.
