UBI would create massive inflation. It will happen when people lose their jobs in drove but not right now. Printing more money out of thin air is not good for the economy. UBI would be only created as excuse for people to sell their houses higher and price of commodities would also increase.
I am pro-UBI but I think its far too early to implement one. I think UBI would only start to work when AI is more prevalent.
Unless you say UBI should only be given to people who lost their job? Then I would agree.

Yeah honestly people are clowning on meta but i think in 5-10 years shit can really take off.
It was just a terrible idea to release a metaverse and do a whole PR campaign this early. He should’ve kept his mouth shut and go full R&D into it like what apple is (allegedly) doing.

Most people will be on the same boat. Its gonna be hard but it’s inevitable. What you do right now in 20-30 years will very likely be replaced by AI. We have to accept that a superior machine will replace us.
But yk, at some point we gotta put our ego aside and accept the future.

20 years is a stretch imo. AI advancements will increase exponentially in the coming years. We had DALL-E 1 like 1-2 years ago creating flawed diffused images ans now we’re already talking about stable diffusion for videos. All that in just two years.

Isnt the US military 10-15 years ahead in tech? Maybe there is some form of Proto-AGI already made by them?
They made the internet and it was only made for the military at first.

Most people don’t realize and don’t want to realize how quickly technology is advancing.
Considering that the growth of computing power used in AI is currently doubling every 3.4 months.
In 2017, deepfakes have started to be legit and used on the internet. In 2018, we had GPT-1, a much inferior version to GPT-3 (which came out in 2020). DALL-E came out in 2021, with its much superior version, DALL- E 2 coming out in 2022. Only one year separates the two version of DALL-E and it can now create highly detailed art (even one won an academic award). And now we’re just recently seeing videos made entirely by an AI with text prompts.
In FIVE years all of this happened. If we take Moore’s law into consideration and growth of computing power, that means breakthroughs and changes will happen even faster. Not only that but AI industry is growing extremely rapidly in just the last two years.
Its absolutely not crazy to think AGI could come in the next 5-10 years.

I really hope so. Honestly I think AI is the only way to save humanity. We are beyond doomed without AI… climate change, geopolitical problems, cultural differences, economical inequalities, gender inequalities, mass starvation. All these problems are too big for humans to fix. AI could potentially fix all these problems with their giant datapool.
Im not saying AI will surely make everything better. In fact, it could make things worst but at this point there is no going back and we might as well give it a shot because humanity is doomed without it anyway.

Good point. That is def true. But I could see another country like China taking advantage of the laws mandated in the West to get a step ahead in AI development and I dont think the US wants that to happen

Good luck telling out of touch boomers in congress to create laws for Artificial Intelligence. AI will evolve every year and bypass the law through its progress.

There are already videos getting generated by prompts. Its not crazy to think that in 5-10 years we will see entire movies. Look at just how AI in art has progressed in just the last 2 years. We went from almost nothing to DALL-E 2.

Well you would need to achieve that first. But Healthcare is still privatized in the US and nothing is happening with that either. I dont see the government do anything about UBI until they hit a point of desperation where a massive amount of people lose their jobs.
