For any rural lines, If you do a good job of cutting all the trees near the powerlines it's much cheaper and minimizes customer down time. There really isn't anything else you can do. The cost of burying the lines per household is too high if you have to go 20 miles down a dirt road to farmer Fred. Like a million a household high.

You can't reuse the lines because the underground lines require insulation that the above ground lines do not. Additionally you must have redundancy because it takes weeks to replace under ground lines vs hours for overhead lines.

You'll be fine. Just be prepared to stay off the road during snow storms. It's usually cleared out by the morning after the snow stops. You don't need snows if you're not trying to drive in a snowstorm.

Yes of course it's okay to satisfy your hunger with delicious maple baked beans while in transit as long as you are following their rules pertaining to food. (I believe they'll have to be under 5 oz for a plane and I'm concerned about getting a can opener in your carry on.)

Snow pants, jacket, winter gloves, wool socks, maybe a necky, a sense of adventure, and a taste for hot chocolate.

Reply to ELI5: Why is burning wood (local, natural) considered bad for the environment, yet naturally occurring forest fires considered good for climate stabilization? by prendrefeu
The reason firewood is banned indoors is not because of its carbon. (All firewood is carbon low, because the tree got it out of the air, but getting it to you probably used gas) Firewood is bad because it both causes chimney fires, and contains large particulates that lower air quality. Think cancer causing smoke.

If you live in the sticks you likely know more than they do. Keep reporting you don't have power. They are doing their best to get as many people back online as fast as possible, but they need to know who's out to do that.

Welp, this sux huh. The most important thing about it is not getting too behind and working with them. Figure out a payment plan now before you get comfortable not paying. Good luck. The electricity man really wants you to be okay (I've worked for eversource before) I promise they don't hate you or anything just be upfront and as on top of it as possible.

It's critical to the school experience. The other option was listening on the radio and waiting for your school to come up in the list.

During that storm the sidewalk plow in Essex Junction broke, so we had an extra Monday off. Legend tells of a vigilante high-schooler that forget his cinderblock on the sidewalk.....

Personally, Every time I read his vetos, I think, he may not be representing me, but these are real concerns of my neighbors, and he usually sets out key policy sticking points, while being open to compromise.
Also anecdotally, there are a large portion of conservatives that formerly would have supported the GOP but won't now. They still feel its important to have their voice heard locally.
