It was not always cramped. After gentrification started is when the neighborhood started to become overly crowded as they jammed hundred plus apartment buildings on tiny residential streets with no parking included.

There’s countless videos of people being killed by the police and immediately many come to their defense saying things like “well what happened before the cameras started recording?” immediately casting doubt on the victims and giving the police the benefit of the doubt. As you all can clearly see, these officers were immediately fired and charged, as they should be! But that should be the way these cases are handled across the board, not just against black officers.

Your staff wouldn’t get attacked. Have you heard of these type of protests leading to random people being attacked?

Probably because the cops were black

South Philly easily. For my job I drive in every hood in the city except for the Northeast, daily. I hate it every single time I drive in South Philly. The driver IQ seems to be lower than anywhere else in the city for some reason and pedestrians give even less of a shit, often walking into traffic without even looking.

Same for developers sadly. Good luck to anyone moving into apartments being built right alongside the projects.

Or maybe, do something about poverty instead of placing higher income housing right in the middle of it?

Not really, crime and violence plagues the neighborhoods east of there as well. It’s just that Temple is smack in the middle of North Central which led the city in homicides for a long time. Not sure why people keep expecting gentrification to get rid of crime when that’s not what happens on the ground.

That neighborhood has been unsafe for the longest time before these recent events.

North Philly is much bigger than just that neighborhood

Temple destroying the community and temple students suffering the effects of crime are two different, separate things. The fact that you correlate the two things shows your own disgusting frame of mind on the issue ie. You assume the community and crime are one and the same.

You’re delusional if you think development stops crime and shootings.

Was just telling my neighbor how much I hate idiot drivers and the fact I have to deal with them everyday as my job involves a lot of driving around the city. It seems since 2020 the amount of idiots on the road has increased tenfold. Coincidentally or not a lot of them are from New Jersey.

Or maybe the fact when someone is robbing you it’s very likely they could kill you. You don’t have enough time in that type of situation (a violent robbery) to try to assess whether or not they’re going to kill you or not when you can defend yourself instead.

The good guys don’t always score unfortunately. I read a story earlier this morning of a guy who shot and killed someone trying to carjack him and he’s being charged with murder (in another state).
