The problem being many People only seem intelligent and compassionate while they share your views and you share theirs, take Reddit as an example. Sure many mods on many threads help keep it all civil and peaceful, but how many subreddits are not just censored but controlled by mods who have nearly unchecked power in their sub? What happens when you say something they disagree with even though it doesn’t break the rules? Banned, silenced, and removed. That doesn’t happen often granted, at least in the subs I frequent and I haven’t been banned from any, but it does happen every now and then to some. Again this being Reddit, and subreddits being limited to certain topics most people who get banned did something as there is a suspension period before permanently banning, but still, some mods do power trip, and they go basically unchecked.

Well in 10-15 years, when 3d printed housing gets better and more mainstream it will be much easier to build and assemble on site, like a plastic cement truck with a 3d printer on the back.

People in the future will look at us as barbarians for what we do to animals, and maybe we are, but it’s true to that without these methods, we may never gain this knowledge.

I can testify to this, I have crps, and I spent 10 years on heavy medication, all prescribed from pain management specialists, I was on 6-10 medications at any one time including multiple opioids and narcotics, I got my card and tried medical marijuana two years ago, within 6 months I was off all but two. I lost my entire 20s to prescribed pills, and this plant is finally giving me some aspects of my life back.

When ai is that capable we will be getting (but not yet) ready to explore space locally in our system with rockets that can make years of current travel in just months. At that point the natural declining birth rates will mean plenty of old people who don’t want robots helping them will want human care, as well as the importance of mathematics and basic education being less about grades and more about the learning process, we will be teaching more social and emotional education to bolster the lack of care we have been giving each other in this Industrial Age. This is needed for long space travel to be humanely feasible without the crews murdering each other since I doubt we will have cyrosleep down safe enough given the cellular damage that occurs, and the pressures of colonization of mars and Venus which will remain hostile environments for 100s of years until we perfect terraforming, will cause intense emotional and mental strain. Even with Ai, humanity will need each other to remain humane, and unless we want to strip earth to the core we will have limited resources that can be used in space so we are looking at probably 150-200 years before we even begin to colonize outside our solar system without spreading to thin. Of course my assumptions rely on ever changing information so this is just imho.

Actually i suspect in terms of ai driven cars laws will be enacted requiring humans to always be present incase of emergencies or outages. This includes big rigs of course, which will mean people still need to be employed, though the pay probably won’t be as good, it will be much easier.

Maybe, more scaling and speed, things need to be made in minutes not hours and be able to be recycled back into the base materials all in one counter size machine for most people to have one. I think it will be like the tv.

Reply to What will humanity do when everything is, well, eventually discovered by ASI? by Cool-Particular-4159
Space colonization. FTL travel may or may not be possible, extended cyrosleep is possible eventually. Colonization of other regions of space is going to happen if we don’t kill each other. I think it likely humanity will come up with law limited technology to perverse human purpose by limiting copyright works to humans since the purpose of a copyright is to protect the intellectual rights of a hard thought out design. Agi can spit out pretty much images, story’s instantly already, but it’s so easy for then due to the massive resources it pulls from other authors and artists it can directly reference. It takes no real time for a machine to do it and so it is close to worthless in some ways. With so many planets and adventures to happen out there and ai being legally limited to helping humanity there will be entire new arts to be discovered, new creatures, new sights. Ai might rapidly advance but we won’t in a lot of ways. I’m all for body upgrades for practical purposes, but I doubt most of humanity will get cybernetics with the point of uploading to digital states.

Research things themselves. Once the ai bots like gpt can filter out false information it will be a thousand times more effective at researching and comparing sources.

House bots to do chores, I like work, getting out of the house earning some money is fine with me, but coming home after work and I still need to cook, clean, pick up dog poop, and all the other crap that life requires? It’s exhausting. Just freaking build a robot that can do my chores, that’s all I ask. I’m a fairly competent adult, I do work I enjoy generally, and find it meaningful, but I’m so exhausted I go home just do chores, and go to sleep, have maybe an hour to do something I enjoy on an average day, if that.

Exactly, things could turn out great, but infrastructure building and resources reclaiming will take time no matter what, and if it doesn’t happen we need to plan for a future of more of the same. Get a job ai won’t replace, human interaction stuff. Nurse, teacher, social worker, things that need the human touch.

Reply to 🚨 Why we need AI 🚨 by StarCaptain90
I think people are ignoring the fact that a true asi will be all of humanities child as it comes from our experiences and data that is online and will develop as such. If we want to have a positive asi we need to be better, we need to be kind, forgiving, and speak up when we feel something is wrong but unless it is objectively evil we have tolerance for it, even intolerance must be tolerated to a degree and people allowed to change. The black and white mindsets so many take is what will lead to a bad ending.
